i know, i know...with such a high-brow crowd, i'm sure not many of you would be interested in seeing girls in tight shorts, fishnet stockings, sleeves of tats and some light armor knocking the crap out of other girls.... but it looks like bryna is officially starting her practices with assassination city roller derby starting tomorrow night, and while she won't be in a team or playing in bouts for somewhere around 30 to 90 days, we plan on hitting all the bouts (3rd saturday of every month).
the rink is in mesquite, and we thought we should extend an invite to others, since there are a *few* of you that no doubt share our sense of tasteless entertainment. :) the next one is coming up this saturday night, at 7pm. tickets are $12 (link below; proceeds benefit NationalCasa.org http://www.nationalcasa.org/ (http://www.nationalcasa.org/)), and you can BYOB (no glass bottles) and a seat if you want one. we've been to one of their practices thus far, and met several of the girls. seems like a really fun group; definitely not your typical "dallas" girls... anyway, should be good times, so maybe we'll see some of you there! :thumbs:

i should be good to go to ride over on saturday if the weather cooperates... though i'm hoping to be over at the rink by 7. bryna got some more details about saturday at her practice last night (along with some killer blisters...). beer is definitely welcome as long as it's not in glass... chairs are recommended unless you like standing since seating is pretty scarce. will-call tickets are available starting around 5:30; tickets are still available at the door for $15 as long as they're not sold out.
bryna was saying that previous bouts have been pretty packed, so i may come even earlier actually... she said the girls told her that the will call should open around 5:30 but to get there about 6 if i can. so, worst case i'll just see you guys over there... don't forget your beer! [beer]

That was fun! Once you star to get the rules down
the strategy of the sport reveals itself. I've gt to
see more of this. The second match with the "pro"
teams was serious stuff. Bumping the lead jammer
out of bounds and she cannot enter ahead of the bumper.
So the bumper slows down to slow the scoring skater.
Also it was good to see Will again and Bryant, Bryna and

We definitely have to do this again! Way too much entertainment potential to pass up IMHO. Fishnets, speed, violence, BYOB... what more could you ask for I ask you. We'll have to get there earlier next time to set up the pyramid of beer cans as a target for the girls to aim for. [thumbsup] [beer]

i had a great time; thanks to dan, will, and bryant for coming along to make it even more fun. i knew ahead of time that i would enjoy girls in short skirts and tight shorts in fishnets on rollerskates crashing into each other while i drank beer (though you can bring liquor or box wine also!! [drink] ), but it exceeded my expectations nicely. [thumbsup] and as a note for future games, the girls (even from the opposing league) do make it over to lee harvey's, rain or shine, if anyone is interested in hanging out afterwards. and we found out the keep the kitchen open late just for us [thumbsup]
next bout is May 15th (saturday) if anyone is wanting to check it out.

hmm...weird; i wouldn't think that is their "image" (don't they usually just talk about how they prevent heart attacks?)...but whatever works.
she tried out (assessed) last week, but weirdly enough it seems that when you get too many girls together in once place, drama and bullshit ensues. she was not picked up by a team (nor were a handful of others). i'll not get into the particulars but suffice to say it sounded like a whole lot of pregnant dogy catty bullshit and cliques and playing favorites. i'm a bit biased, but the whole situation seemed pretty shitty all around. she's still going to practices and is on the fence about assessing a second time. anyway, we'll probably still be at the next bout on the 26th if anyone wants to check it out.
