Title: Icon Super Duty Boots?
Post by: psycledelic on April 19, 2010, 02:16:41 PM
Anyone have a pair?  There is a decent price @ NewEnough.com and I was just wondering what people thought about them.

I have a pair that I used for about a week. They were fine fitting and seemed pretty well made but I put on a pair of Sidi boots and haven't worn the Icon's since. Now they're just sitting on a shelf unused.

I wear a pair once in awhile. Not as good as the Alpinestars for riding. Better for standing next to the bike to bullshit with other riders, I suppose.

(Its the only Icon branded thing I've bought. I'm not a fan of their products generally)

Edit-
Just realized that I've got Field Armor, not Super Duty.

Have had a pair for a few months, ridden about 2K miles with them. Comfortable, have held up well so far...

i have an icon jacket and although its decent, im not a huge icon fan

imho buy a pair of last years discounted sidis and if you pay three times the price it will be a bargain

pumas and dainese boots look nice too, i think i might try a half puma boot next

Puma boots are sized kind of odd, so make sure you are able to try them on before you buy them.  I've got a set in 45 (I wear 44 in Sidi) that are quite snug across the ball of my feet (widest part) but still pretty loose in the heel.  There is no way that I could go down to a 44, so I have resorted to using inserts to try and fill the space in the back.  Other than that, they seem bomb proof.

I have those boot, they are heavy and very hot. i use them only when it's cold or/& rainy weather. Otherwise i ware my nike running shoes :-\, and it's not good....

I try a pair of puma Flat v2 boots last month, they are very comfy. If I were to buy a new boots, I would take those one. [thumbsup]

I have a pair of the Shift riding shoe. I bought them last summer. I really like them. Quite comfterble, and they seem pretty sturdy. I looked at getting the Icon's but something pursuaded me otherwise, either price (most likely) or apparent sturdiness.

I feel a lot safer in them than running shoes.

Jesus! You should! Other than sandals, there's nothing worse for riding.

Ankle protection is astronomically high on the importance scale.

Shit, come down to Hawaii.  You would be shocked at how people ride around everywhere in their aloha gear.

Hell that almost makes more sense. What drives me nuts around here is all the people that wear their jackets trying to look cool, with no helmet. So that way they can crash, their arms will be fine, but they migh have a cracked skull and mangled fingers and legs.

Or even worse Jacket, and the helmet attached to their bike, like seriously WTF.

That describes about eighty percent of the military sport bike riders down here.

Here, in the province of Quebec, helmet, by the law is an obligation.
You should see some temerous rider "in their aloha gear" but wearing an helmet! LOL!
Bermudas, tank top and sandals too, showing their muscles, i have seen this on gsx and r1 on the rapid left lane 15 (most rapid highway to north here in montreal)...
La débarque doit faire mal en tabarnak! Sorry for my french word, i translate: Jesus it'S gonna hurt like hell!

Oh and i forgot the chick behind the muscles, wearing short and tank top too....

Don't
