Hi all,
For those who are looking at a well priced exhaust system, motowheels have a good special going.

I have a QD on my 695 & I love it!
Cheers
yes I have been behind tony with his QuatD - I do like the note - more racier than the rumble of the termi! [thumbsup] [moto]

Go on Jason, you know you want one! ;D
soooo tempted! :-\
hows the clearence Tony?
I get out the track occasionally so I wouldn't want to lose clearence...
dont spoze you have any pics of the rear so I can see how far it'll get over?
also.. does it come withh header pipes?

speaking on behalf of Tony he has bottomed out on something, believe it was a speed hump though - hopefully you wont encounter those on the track - as for leaning clearance pretty well go right over - the box isnt much wider than a rear tyre - and that is on Tony's 695.
Exbox comes with header pipes. The look really opens up the back - considering one for my S2R - as an alternate performance mod - not bling! ;D
Yes, bottomed out once when I first fitted them. They are adjustable up & down by around an inch....I had mine set low & also my rear shock was set very low. It a big lump of bitumen on a rough road going faster than I should have. It didnt damage the box at all but just left a small scratch on the bottom so it was quite minor (just scared the hell out of me when I did it!).
Since then I've lifted the box up as high as possible & have lifted the rear up a bit more & I havent had any probs.
Here's a few pics that I just took with the phone:

Its a bit hard to gauge the clearance from the ground while the bike is on a stand. I dont think you'll have any clearance issues on a track & certainly cornering clearance will not be affected.
Yes they come as a complete kit with the box & header pipes etc. There is even a baffle to blank off one of the exhausts for "on road use"! Ha as if anyone will be using that! [evil]

Yeah your not wrong!
It was actually on the summit road behind the mount!
looks awsome Tony! [thumbsup]
wish I knew someone here in WA with one, so I could see it in the flesh..
thanks for the pics, but if you get a few moments, can you take some more?
one from the back of the bike maybe.. below axle level.. ;D (dosn't matter if its on the side stand)
and even one from the left side...

g'donya Tony [thumbsup]
I'm being a bit paranoid! I've had an under engine exhaust before and it didn't give a lot of clearence on the road, less on the track!
do you know is it made of stainless?
I'm pretty much sold tho... :)

Yes its stainless.
I can take some measurements of the box if you like....maybe from the mounting point at the top to the bottom which will give you an idea of clearance on your bike to the ground?
thanks, but its not the ground height of the exbox that worries me, its the clearence when the bikes layed over..
I've already ground through a r/h peg (when I had the standard ones on..) and the exhaust is also worn through on the side.. (even after I welded in a beveled patch!).
The under enginge exhaust I had was heaps worse.
judgeing from the rear shots you posted, there dosn't look like a problem. (tho, would I be a prick if I asked for one a bit further back, and to the right and one to the left a bit!!) [evil]
I reckon its a gunna be a done deal! Seems like a good price to, thanks for the link. :)
These are pics of my old exhaust back in 2006... in the shot from the rear you can see it sticking out the right side.

Was that a custom exhaust you had?
Yes the price is really good on the Ex-box...I paid $999 for mine from them last year & the exchange rate wasnt as good as it is now either....get a couple....I'm sure you could sell them pretty easy & make a few $$

I dont think you'll have any cornering issues with the exhausts. [thumbsup]
I think that was a road racing exhaust..... awesome, but they've been out of business for some time...
seems Motowheels are dumping their stock of Quat D as another US distributor has been appointed.... which is why they are so cheap.. i have a few Ex Boxes in stock which were made for us without the Cat in them... PM me for a special price if you're interested...
perfect! exaxtly what I wanted Tony! [thumbsup]
yeah, mine was a 'road racing' exhaust.
I hear the credit card weeping..
Just need to confirm what i have in stock is for a single sided swingarm, there are 2 different styles of Ex Box, single and double sided... sorry for any inconvenience...

no worries oz..
Tony, did you get yours from motowheel?
They want $260 for freight... seems a bit high?
can you remember how much your freight was?

Check their shipping info on the website and send them an email ... if your freight number was automatically generated.
From memory we received a partial refund once the true freight costs were known so it might be worth checkin'. We weren't buying an exhaust system though and I don't think the true freight cost could be considered 'cheap'.
yeah sent em an email a few days ago Betty. No reply yet, maybe not interested..
They offer 2 auto generated prices and $260 was the cheaper option.
I've done the same thing in the past and have been able to get freight reduced.

It was a while ago...I do remember though that they issued a credit after the order was generated on their system, so the freight was cheaper than the system price.....bit of a funny way of doing it! I think it was around $1300 AU landed here, but I think they were selling them for $999 US back then & the exchange rates weren't as good.
motowheels: I email em to say that I'm interested in buying *insert cool bling item here*, and ask em to send me a paypal invoice complete with a sensible shipping rate. Martin usually goes for it once he smells a sale.
Their system can only give a price for fedex or whoever they use for the USA.
They send international orders via USPS.
They refund the difference within 14 days.
haha..
I got an email from them yesterday. Maybe they're watching this thread! :)
"Our website quotes freight high and we will refund the difference, or Ican send you a pay pal request for the actual freight cost which wouldbe roughly 85.00 postage"
think I'll have to bite the bullet! :)
[thumbsup]
got the goods today :)
I finished up getting a refund on my freight costs, and it ended up costing about $1050 landed.
I gotta say, its a nicely made thing. And it arrived in good time..
Itchin to get it on... :)
Pics or it didn't happen dude ;D
Seriously those cans are fkn sweet, They looks awesome on S*Rs and 696++ style monsters as well. I have a feeling they sound as good as they look.
[popcorn]
so, I got it fitted on yesterday.
Took a bit of mucking about.. even though they supply exhaust ring clamps because of the bigger diameter tube, I wanted to use the MPL ones I have, so I had to make them fit.
I also painted it black. I'll have it ceramic coated later on when I paint the rest of the bike on the rebuild I plan for later this year.
Also. I had my chain adjusted right forward (30000k's on a DID and its hardly moved.. amazing!) and the tyre rubbed on the zorst, so I had to add a link to the chain to bring the wheel back about 15mm.
The zorst is a snug fit everwhere and was a tight to fit, I wish I'd remembered the rear gasket before I got it fitted nicely! [bang]
Its actually a bit quieter than the old pipes I had on and feels as though its lost something.. the front wheel dosn't seem to come up as easy.. :-\ tho, it could be the fact that I've lengthened the back wheel??
There was also a little bit of backfire on decelerate, but that seemed to stop when it warmed up. It do doubt could use a bit of re-jetting.
these were the old pipes, I cut 5" of them, thats why it was louder than the QD..

Looks real good. [thumbsup] I still have concerns about ground clearance tho. But having said that Perth/WA roads aren't the potholed goat tracks I have to ride on here in country Victoria.
