I just did the tour a couple weeks ago -- neat place, I hope they maintain the sort of spirit that Maytag had in rebuilding the brewery in the 60's and 70s.

I gotta say anchor steam kinda sucked. Meanwhile In Novato, Moylans Kiltlifter is the cats pajamas. If you haven't tried it you should. Why don't they have it at the Geist anyway?
I will suck Anchor Steams next year. [drink]
I'll stick with Racer5...
Don't think it'll change much from our end.
Research due.
I'll let you know. I live almost next door.
I got to tell you, on hops roasting days it's heavenly around here. The whole neighborhood smells like the best bead ever. [drink] [beer]

Is that North Beach? Or am I thinking of a different brewery.

Potrero Hill
I guess I had it confused with this place.

155 Columbus Ave.
I did a tour a few years back, and their hops room is just incredible. If I could, I'd like to be buried in there, smelling beer smells for eternity.
I'm embarrassed to say I live three blocks away and I've never done the tour.
And the smell from the nearby playground is awesome (I live just upwind so I don't get the aroma otherwise)

One reason could be the alcohol content. Both of Brendans places on serve it in 10oz glasses rather than as pints. He's said it some regulation. If thats not just a Marin thing that might be it. If you like the Kilt Lifer (or imperial stout or double IPA or Hopsicle...) try ordering a strong 1/2 and 1/2 with a lesser gravity beer as the other 1/2.

I'm not sure what regulation that is, but in Mendocino you can get the Imperial stout by the pint at Piacci's pub but if you go up the street to the brewery they serve a maximum of two in ten ounce glasses. The same goes for the Kilt at Either Piacci's or or Patterson's Pub. You can get it by the pint but only in a ten ounce at the pub in Navato. So... I don't know...except I know where to go to get the stuff.
