So here it is - the broad views of my bike! I'll do the close-up views in another posting, because I don't know how to do it!
Anyway, last year I got my bike - 2006 Monster S2R and got a new helmet - a white Arai. I felt like a Storm Trooper from Star Wars, so my son said "sharpie it!". 20 hours of work, and clear coat, and I was HOOKED! I decided then, to do my whole bike at the end of the winter. So I wrote down all the things that I love, make me laugh, and show my personality. I had the red painted white and scuffed to accept the maker better. I spent 75 hours on the couch, floor, table... until my butt was numb, but it was DONE! I had it cleared by Toon Town Paint in Pine Island, NY (close to where I live).
Watching people look at the bike is great - I purposely did lettering by the Ducati sticker on the tank to say "Sharpie Edition" so people would think that Ducati came out with this special bike! It does fool people at first, but then they see all the personal stuff drawn, and think "why did Ducati put THIS on here?" THEN I tell them that I did it by hand with a Sharpie marker, and their face gets crinkled up, their mouth hangs open, with no words coming out for a few minutes. It's fun for me! (but not as much fun as RIDING my bike!) [moto]
I put Homer Simpson drooling saying "ummmm... Ducatis.... ahhhhgggh", along with C3PO saying "naked? what do you mean naked? My parts are showing?", with Stewie saying "do you realize what the deuce you're looking at? a MARKER I tell you!", and of course Daffy Duck, which is ME. I even hid "Waldo" in there for a challenge for people to find. Everyone spends so much time looking and reading everything, then go around the bike again and again, and see things they didn't see before! [popcorn]
I really enjoy it, and enjoy people's reaction to it as well! I especially love it because it couldn't get ANY more personal, with all my favorite things, people, sayings, and all, AND the fact that I did the artwork myself (I am an artist that specializes in crazy colorful dog portraits)
It's really a dream come true - to own a Ducati that it undeniably MINE! [thumbsup]
Other things that were done to it by my husband (also rides a 2006 Monster, but the 1000 S2R) - was the lower seat, a lowering link, tail chop, and an air horn so I can actually be heard! (especially above his dry clutch and quad-D (X-Box) exhaust!!!)
So that's the story of me and my bike for now! Thanks for listening and looking!
Great story and very unique bike. [thumbsup]

** edit ** looking over the pics, again, woman, i love what you've created - I am wondering if your bike might look even better without the side panels... just a thought...

To everything said
Definitely a BoMB. [thumbsup] Fantastic! I need to think of something to do with my 748 paint job, but 75 hours is a tad too much for me!
Simple speechless. [thumbsup] [thumbsup] Do helmets on the side?
wasn't there another artist that did the same sort of thing with a sharpie on a lamborghini and didn't that custom bike builder do the same thing with a newer style monster?
i have to say that whoever did this bike obviously has artistic talent the stuff on the bike is just way "too good" to be someone that just decided to do this.
great work!!!

yeah, roland sands did the same thing with a 696, only his wasnt nearly as creative.
may be the coolest art applied to a bike I've ever seen. Really original.
Very nice. [thumbsup]
amazing work!!! very original idea!
Wow i started sharping my bike over the winter but i've been working on other mods and haven't finished it...your ride looks awesome.

Very neat. Now the million dollar question, is this custom? He11 yes.

thanks to everyone who gave me such great reviews on all my hard work! [bow_down]
I'm still figuring out this whole "forum" thing, - don't really know where this "reply" will go, but I just wanna say thanks to all!
I still have a few things I want to do after this riding season - the larger thing being powder coating the swing arm red to match the frame.
In the meantime, I'll ride the deuce out of it, and maybe enter it in a few shows? [moto]
Anyway, I did it for ME and I'm so glad so many of you are enjoying it - thanks again! [cheeky]
I'm glad you decided to start a thread to show it off! Again, fantastic job! [clap] [clap]
Phenomenal!!! What a great idea, and you certainly have the imagination and the skill to really make it work. It's so well executed. I like your sense of humor too.
Maybe we ought to pool our money, send you a bike, and then make suggestions as to what to put on it (but then you would probably just ignore us and do your own thing , and rightly so) ;D It could be kept as forum mascot (in my garage of course).
you have to post up more pictures of the bike, so what we can see all the details of it, and what other characters you have on it.. its just insane... we havn't seen the fender art that well yet.
come on, do some more stuff on the white wheels, so that is more real estate for you to put even more stuff on.. i really want to see what other stuff you can come up with.
there is some truly funny stuff on that bike.
I seriously love this bike.
It needs a movie of the week made about it.
"A girl. A dream. A monster. A sharpie."
Holy Moses Batman! Do the rims next....then the exhaust shield, headlight ring, right side engine case....really incredible!
[bacon] [bacon] [bacon]
We need [bacon] and DMF logos somewhere....floored really, I am!
No don't do the rims. It looks good with the solid rims. If you do the rims it will be too much. I think it's almost perfect just the way it is. Paint the belt covers white and do something on those. [thumbsup]
Definitely rims, foot controls, exhaust shields, engine covers, forks, sprocket carrier and belt covers.
Powder coat disc carriers, swingarm and sprocket carrier nuts red...add a red linked chain....wow....I can see it
this is make the beast with two backsing AWESOME MAN!!!!
you need to clear coat this to preserve the awsomeness

Love the creativity. One question though, is there any kind of protection over your hard work (ie clear coat) or is that necessary over sharpie? I wouldn't want anything like that getting smudged from gas or other chemicals.

Correction - that's not something that was done by RS, but a new option from LeoVince!

I strongly disagree with the BOMB comments. This isn't a Bike Of the Month Baby, this is a Bike Of the Year. [thumbsup]
Simply Ah-Maz-ing.
I'm blown away with this simple plan that has been masterfully executed.
Perhaps with the power of the Internet, the addage that artists never get famous till they're dead will disappear... as you certainly are a talented artist deserving of some recognition for your work. [clap]

[bow_down] [bow_down] That is just beautiful [thumbsup] and If you should ever decide to retire your sharpie stead, you could display it in the living room, or the dining room..Definitely qualifies as Fine Art in my book. Truly AMAZING. [moto]
Gads that is amazing!!! It doesn't even *look* like it was done with a Sharpie! Seeing your bike makes me wish I had even an iota of creative talent. [bow_down]
I haven't seen anything quite like this since a friend of mine got some MDA back in the early '70's and stayed up for 3 days with some pens and drew on a big piece of paper, the neatest , most intricate, piece of " art " I had seen up to that point in my life.
You created a work of art that needs to be captured for the ages.
Excellent !!!
Dolph :)
all the adjectives were used up before...
just amazing. [bow_down]
you should have made a sped-up video of the whole creative process...
Hi again everyone!
thanks so much for your praise on all my Sharpie artwork on my bike!!!! [thumbsup] I'll start a write-up for the BoMB and more pics - maybe even a video walk-around? If I can figure THAT out!! [bang]
Anyway, here's a few things I'm responding to -
1- I'll consider removing the side panels and see if I like the look
2- Those really sweet fork reflectors are being removed [clap]
3- NO... no other Sharpie action will be done on the bike - sorry! An artist has to know when to stop, and how to edit!
4- The evap canister is gone - that is my air horn, and that's staying, because I need a horn to match my big mouth! - (if you knew me, you'd be laughing now!) [laugh]
e- I DID put bacon on my bike! (before I knew this forum and the whole "bacon" thing!) I drew "wakey wakey eggs and bakey" and drew bacon and eggs [bacon]
GO MEAT!
5 - I'll put more close-up shots including the fender and where Waldo is at - to keep ya lookin' [popcorn]
So thanks again so very much - I'm totally honored to be complimented so much in so many ways - I'd love to meet all of ya! [bow_down]
