Title: Women's boots - what's available?
Post by: duc_fan on April 28, 2010, 11:42:52 AM
Question on women's boots: what are the options?  My lovely wife needs boots.  She has a US size 7.5 foot, a high arch, and a fairly thick calf... so we need a boot that fits her foot and has enough adjustability to go around her calf.

What are the options?  So far all we see are the Icon Bombshell, Icon Hella, Sidi Lei, and then a bunch of rain/waterproof boots.  She needs something stylish and protective that breathes (we're fair weather riders).

Oh, the so-called "unisex" Sidis won't work; we already tried (when we get one big enough to accommodate her arch, the rattles around in the toe box and heel cup).

(Question also posted in the Monster Women forum.)

My wife has a pair of Rev-It boots that she really likes. She also has the thicker calf issue which makes finding boots difficult.

I'd link them, but Rev-It's website blows (why can't europeans make simple websites?). They just look like a normal, plain black, mid-calf boot with side zipper entry, toe, heel, and shin protection. We got them at Ducati Seattle for $200 I think.

Look at Daytona Lady Stars.  Expensive but great boots.  They have calf adjustment.  They aren't perf'd, but come in Gore-Tex or non-Goretex.

is that US 7.5 Mens or womens? i just recently found out that i have decent sized calfs for a man my size (joke, my calfs arent big at all) *5'6" 150lbs size 7 feet) due to my new size of boots that i purchased...the AXO Lancers that have a BOA system like on snowbaords. it allows you to fit a genetically mutated size calf. due to the infintely allowable size strap.

With my Teknic Violator suit on (which is very thin around the calf and i needs 2 people to zip since its brand new), the BOA system allows me to adjust perfectly for my calf.

However the smallest size is Mens 7.0 which is EU40. and they only come in White. and are track oriented boots (its not easy to stand up straight in them) breathes VERY well and in myopinon offer very good protections, and has a Torsion Constorl System that striaght up copies Oxtar/TCX

US women's size 7.5.  She definitely needs a women's footbed... she has a typical narrow female foot, but with a high arch and the thicker calves.  When she tried on a Sidi "unisex" boot that was big enough to fit her arch and length, the toe box and heel cup were way too wide.

I bought my gf a pair of Diadora Donna boots and she loves them.  She's also a 7 or 7 1/2 depending on the brand and has a narrow heel/high arch.  I got her the 7 (euro 37).  Comfortable for riding and to walk in off the bike and one of the most stylish boots I've seen.  They are not vented, but she hasn't found them too steamy even through some warm days of riding and walking around.

Yes, these are for a woman.  A very, very beautiful woman.

;)

DCXCV: thanks for the info!  I'll run those by Erica and see what she thinks.  I saw those Diadoras, but of course it's always good to get real-world feedback.  Depending on what she thinks, we'll probably end up ordering those or the Icon Bombshells.

Here are a few more options for you.  Let me know if you have any questions regarding any of them.

I ended up getting the Alpinestars Stella SMX-4 boot after several unsuccessful attempts with other boots.  They are very comfy and have the flexibility needed for a sportbike.  I have larger than average calves and have no problem with these boots.

Well, my better half ordered a pair of the A* Stella Armada boots.  She likes the look, and she also likes the calf adjustability that comes with a lace-up boot.  I'm happy that they're a full-coverage "official" motorcycle boot, and they feel substantially stouter than the Icon Bombshell boots (which, even a full size too big, didn't fit around her calf).  We're hoping the Alpinestars fit her high arch... we'll see when they come in.

If not, I'll suggest ordering a pair from Dainese.  Just looking at them, I think they would fit her foot the best, but I have my doubts about the calf fitment.
