Title: Riding to Shooting Range?
Post by: Ursoboostd on April 30, 2010, 05:07:51 AM
I just bought a 2000 M750 Dark.  I love going to the shooting range in my free time.  I also love riding in my free time.  So, any advice on a backpack or maybe bags for my bike to tote around maybe 3 pistols and 200 rounds of ammo??  Thanks for any advice.  [thumbsup]     -Wade-

3 pistols and 200rds may be a little much. I'd say two pistols max. What I do is place one IWB and one in a zip up soft case. Ammo in plastic ammo boxes and taped shut. Remember, you will have most of the weight in the bottom up the pack. All the light weight gear such as mags/speed loaders, eyes/ears, ect can go higher in the pack.

I'm a huge Dakine fan myself. This is the one I use for riding on snow or asphalt   http://www.amazon.com/Dakine-DAKINE-Heli-Pro-20L/dp/B001I45N1I   (http://www.amazon.com/Dakine-DAKINE-Heli-Pro-20L/dp/B001I45N1I)

you don't need a backpack.  You need 2 holsters for each hip -- have them hanging with te  grip between your wrist and your elbow when your arm is down to facilitate quick draws.  For the third pistol, another holster on teh small of your back will do, or you can carry it "back up plan" style and tape a holster to your boot.

As for the ammo, you can carry 2 speed loaders in your coat pocket Dirty Harry style if you use revolvers, and you can carry the rest of your ammo in bandoleers slung across your chest.  Just be sure to keep it on the outside of your jacket.

If anyone cuts you off on your way to the range, they should carve 'a brave but foolish motorist' on their tombstone.

put the 3rd pistol in a holster attached to the trellis frame on the left side, that is so that you can still use the throttle and front brake with the right hand, just like in all the mission impossible/matrix/or any hong kong gangster movie.

3 pistols and a few hundred rounds of ammo isn't that much. It'll fit in a small pack or tail bag. Unless you're packing a Desert Eagle or Colt .50 that is.

I take the duc fishing sometimes. Waders, wading boots, and some tackle in the tail bag, 4 piece fly rod attached to it.
