everyone's afraid that they'll be hit by a cager sooner or later. well, i hope this counts as mine...
i was headed east on hwy 6 and just passed west rd. (4:30 pm on Friday) i was in the left lane and had cars behind and beside me. 20 yards: some idiot woman (i can say that b/c i am one... a woman... not an idiot ;)) who was headed west (that's towards me for those who aren't paying attention) made a U-turn from her left lane. not the center lane, which is where most people stop and then decide to U-turn when the coast is clear. 10 yards: she sees all of us coming and stops. at this point she's in her lane, the center lane, and half of my lane. i figured she realize that she's a moron and was going to let all of us pass her (besides, her side of the road was completely stopped). 5 yards: i didn't want to stop because i was afraid of being hit by the car behind me. i start towards the right side of my lane to pass by her and then she starts going again! 1 yard: i swerved and the B* hit my handle bar mirror knocking it in!
so you can see why i hope this one counts... technically, i WAS hit. but the damage was non-existent. i stopped at the next light and the :-X pulls up beside me. she actually rolled down her window and apologized. i just motioned a little 'yea, it's ok' thing. it wasn't until i got to the bank and stopped that i realized i was shaking. whew. close one....
If you were hit it counts. Glad you weren't hurt.
She wouldn't have need to roll down the windows... I would've given her an earful.
:-X
Glad you made it out of that one with only shaken nerves and a mirror ding.
:o
Christ!! That biatch is sofa king we Todd Ed!! Hwy 6 can be like that. Glad youre ok Val.
Glad you're ok and that a banged up mirror was your only souvenier from that encounter...
See, if you had been at the Hill Country Ride with us this weekend none of that nastiness would've happened ;)
+1 to chipo's comment, y'all would've had a blast, next time just go :-\
Glad your OK. Glad you were alert and reacted to minimize the damage/risk.
I'd offer you one of these [drink] but they drank em all.
Show up at the next Run and you can cash your rain check. ;D

i've just recently learned to appreciate St. Arnold ;D
(the patron saint of brewers)
BUT, i sure am glad i didn't appreciate him on friday before i left the office (yes, normally we do... my office rocks) things could have turned out a lot different.
Count yourself lucky, Val.
Ride on the streets long enough and you'll encounter your share of close calls with unattentive drivers.
At least it's good to hear that this was relatively minor in the grand scheme of things. (i.e. you and the bike were fairly unscathed).
And you were paying close attention to that idiot driver as she was making her move.
So score one for photogirl ! ;)
Speaking of st. arnold, a group of us should make a tour of the brewery soon.
All of you can wear your ducati apparel to represent (Joe, I'm talking to you).
I'll wear my Honda Racing t-shirt just to be a bastard.

eh hemm. as i recall that was not me "dropping" any glasses - that was my bf literally dipping me into someone's glass in a pathetic attempt at tango. it's different! [cheeky]
and i'm not a lush. i just have a
passion for the art of the microbrew. that and i just invested $10K in St. Arnold's so everyone should go out and buy their beer NOW ::shameless plug::
I just invested $12.99 in a case of Old Milwaukee.
So everyone should go out and buy their beer NOW.
Woo-hoo!
End thread hijack.
Glad you're okay, Val.
Glad to hear you are okay.
I think I might have peed in her window....but I'm built different.
you guys crack me up.
if we're doing st. arnolds, we better do it fast. that place is not air conditioned.
