Looks like its going to be Edwards to factory and Crutchlow to Tech3. They said The Ben is out due to being a rookie and Crutchlow has gone from not taking the offer to "no comment."
Where are you getting that from?

Dude, RDP! Playboy must've told him he could have his pick if he won.
RDP did a trackday there recently, which I'm sure helped him along.
He's also been kickin' ass this year, and those Hondas went from being the suck the in the first round to really amazing machines. I haven't watched the circuit enough to know how/whether the Honda's to speed is gonna pay off.
Interesting to see the Spies/Simoncelli match-up. Both rookies. Both on a new track. Both on new tires (to them). Sure, Spies hurt his ankle again, and (*I think*) Simoncellis is on factory-spec bike. But they were pretty damn close in qualifying. And pretty far from Lorenzo.
Great race!! [thumbsup]

I was thinking Stoner could have been applying a little more pressure to the Ben so he'd have to defend instead of attack, but I'm just glad both Ducatis finished this one.

Yeah, I'll join in and say Ben Spies make the beast with two backs Yeah!
Hate to be a downer but hypothetically - if Rossi was there, Pedrosa didn't crash day before, Stoner didn't choke the start = Spies 6th. Or even 7th, but he won the battle with Hayden. Meaning, he's still on this season's average.
I had the same thought. Sure, it's racing and stuff happens, but I'm sure Ben won't be satisfied until he podiums against all the aliens in their peak form.
that's kinda like saying that nicky asterisks 2006 for himself. people crash all the time. rossi goes from 7x mugello to not winning to badly hurting himself; jorge punts himself off the bike 5 times, considers retiring, then figures it out; pedro wins by 7 seconds or gets 6th; simoncelli can't ride that honda out of a paper bag but he can ride the aprilia like he stole it.. only now he's starting to find his way on the honda; suddenly stoner crashes all the time again and nicky is out-qualifying him. it's all racing. it's only one race but 3rd is 3rd.

let's be fair: nicky won in 2006 b/c valentino lost, not b/c nicky won.
Seems that some people put an astericks by Nicky's championship...just like they will by Ben's 1st podium. ;)

yeah yeah... nicky won vale's lost championship in 2006. stoner's 2007 championship was won when he was the only decent bike not on michelins.
fwiw, ben's first ama superbike win occurred when mladin crashed out. doesn't really change the fact that he eventually ground out three championships in a row over the old guy.

i do, in a sense. but i'm sure that nicky doesn't. i still think he deserved it b/c he had 9 podiums that year, survived estoril, and was there to pick up the pieces when valentino threw it away. he put himself in the position to be that close, no arguing that.

I'm not one of those folks who calls Casey a whiner, but this is just poor form.
Q: What happened at the start.
CS: Ask my technician that, because it wasn't my fault.
Q: You weren't in second gear!
CS: No, the bike jumped and shuddered and shook, and it sounded like the bike basically exploded off the start, nearly stalled the thing and just started going horribly, and managed to keep it going. Got into the first turn and got shoved around and pushed around, and really spat out the back door.
I'm a little disappointed, because it would have been an easy second, maybe even battle with Jorge for the win, but I would have had to push for that.

whiner..? how about jackass.
All he needed say was "We had a technical issue with the bike at the start, and one that came up again througout the race. <then describe what the bike was doing and when it did it>" That sounds soooo much better than "ask my technician, it wasn't my fault."
He had some interesting things to say here: http://www.motomatters.com/news/2010/06/21/casey_stoner_post_race_debrief_i_ve_got_.html (http://www.motomatters.com/news/2010/06/21/casey_stoner_post_race_debrief_i_ve_got_.html)
maybe it really would have been an "easy 2nd". but saying that is just.. lame.
I wasn't even focusing on that part. Yeah, not too cool.
You knew something like that would be coming from Stoner. What a douche. [puke]
Quote from: IV on June 21, 2010, 08:47:02 AM
That reads like he already signed a new contract with Honda and is being a little pregnant dogy.
On the positive note he is showing some (pesky) emotions and opinions and not being PR robot.
it really surprises me that anyone is surprised. he does this shit all the time. since 2006.
It was impressive to see Stoner come back from dead last to putting in a fight for 2nd, if only he didn't get a bad start. Whatever his reasons for complaining is, it was entertaining to see him actually race in a competitive position. Those last 6 laps were some of the more entertaining racing so far, IMO.
How can a bike almost explode then finish a race in top form? I vote user error, or sabotage from the Ducati garage since they learned they were Fired for next year. (http://www.crash.net/motogp/news/160818/1/valentino_rossi_heading_to_ducati.html)

Anyone else excited to see Dovi back on the pace? I liked him a lot when he started, liked him even more after I got to meet him in person (not sure why that should make a difference, but he was a genuinely nice guy), then lost all faith last year when he was teh suck. Now he's consistently fast (though not quite alien fast) and is second in the championship. This is exactly the form he needs to be showing with the silly season in effect.
As far as that race, he did exactly what he needed to lock up second. Though the time sheets say he beat Spies by .3 second, he was comfortably in second place. No one was gonna get him on the last lap.
As a side note, it was interesting to hear Nicky say that he didn't know what to do with The Ben or where to pass him because Nicky hasn't spent any time riding behind The Ben and doesn't know his strengths and weaknesses.

Simocelli has his face up Pedrosa's ass. Problem is, that space is already occupied by Pedrosa's own head

Foot off the peg, rear tire in the air. Ya damn amateurs. Learn to ride a bike correctly!

Consider him "objectified". (He didn't ride too badly either.) I bet he's dumb--wait, no--I
hope he's dumb. <

Interesting track, fantastic racing--thrilled that Lorenzo gets to add to his "real estate" (but the Beatles thing was lame) and Spies... Damn boy. Go get 'em, Elbows. And, hey, at least the Ducati team kept themselves upright this time. Don't know what happened to Casey at the start but he redeemed himself towards the end of the race. Did Nicky cry again about being denied a podium? Swear to god Kleenex is going to contact him about being a sponsor.
OK, my drooling and sh!t-talking is done here. Carry on.
Are these guys lining up for a left-hander? I wondered why they're all on the high side of the bike.

Really? Really?
Yeah...she has all her teeth.
I just got around to watching the 125 race. That save on the knee on the last part of the last lap was AMAZING!! Jebus. He completely crashed. He just didn't fall down. Noice. [thumbsup]
