Title: New Member - Greetings from Denver
Post by: prydonian on June 20, 2010, 05:57:34 AM
Hey,

I've been riding motorcycles most of my life; dirt bikes and Harleys, but I've always wanted to own a Ducati. Well .. now I do. I recently bought a used 2007 Monster 695. Its all stock, but believe it or not .. its the most fun I've had on the street in a long time.

I'll be reading/looking at this forum for tips and the mods most others do that get the best result for the dollars. To start with I'll probably want to upgrade the ECU map, air filter, and exhaust. Then chop the tail and add a Corbin seat. That should get me through the summer  :)

Happy riding!

cheers,

Brian

Welcome Brian and congrats on the 695! [thumbsup]

The ECU/airbox/exhaust combo is a good upgrade.  Good luck with the modding and keep us updated (btw we love bike pictures). ;D

When you get a chance, stop in and introduce yourself to your local group as well, MHM (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=23.0).

have fun! [moto]

Welcome!  I am in Lone Tree area, and have a new Monster myself.  Where do you ride?

Hi,

Thanks for all the responses!

Current state of my M695:

I've chopped the tail off and installed a tail light/turn signals/license plate relocation kit
I've open the airbox by using my roto-saw to cut a large rectangle from the top potion of the stock box. Yes - I still retained the existing latches the hold what remains of the lid onto the bottom portion of the airbox. Can you say "HONK"  ;D
Along with this I installed a K&N high throughput air filter.

Now I'm waiting for my gauge cluster, ECU, & key(s) to come back from Houston Superbikes (previously known as DesmoPorsche). I've asked them to reflash the ECU to DP air/fuel mix map and create a new "Red Key" for me, provide the code card, and but leave the immobilizer intact.

Why? Well ... I was one of those unwitting newbies who didn't know a thing about Ducati's  "Red Key" fiasco. So I only had one black key when I bought this used M695. Looks like it'll all turn out alright though ... the work has all been done and its being shipped back to me.

Also waiting for my LeoVince exhaust.

If all goes as expected - I'll have a new bike by the middle of next week.

Riding ... I've mostly been riding to/from work in East Aurora from S/E Denver. When I do go for rides I like just about anything west of Denver. My last ride was just 285 -> North Turkey Creek to 73. Then I checked out both Conifer  & Evergreen.

Can't wait to get the bike back to running order again!

cheers,

Brian
