It will be so hot, but I'm tempted.

Don't think I'll demo one tomorrow but I did get to see a red 796 when I was at AMS today.  Great looking bike with a lot of detail changes to spruce things up.  It also has a redesigned/contoured seat.  Apparently this new Monster is lighter than before and uses an improved kind of casting for the engine pieces...

Yeah, whatever   [roll]  [laugh]  All I know is it was beautifully red, had Termis and should run as good as it looks.

796 has 20mm higher handlebars, lighter crank (848 style), black 5 y-spoke wheels, black passenger pegs and exhaust guard, way better seat, optional abs, etc etc etc. Its going to be a hoot to ride. makes a little more power than the Hypermotard 796 because it has a larger airbox. Better torque/weight ratio than the BMW F800's and the Trumpet Street Triple R.

Time to sweat some more.  I'm going to go.  I haven't been on my bike in over a week.

I sat on this bike for a bit when they first opened this morning. It does "feel" a bit different than the 696 I once test-rode. I didn't give it test ride because a late breakfast at Mamas/Daughters was calling me.  [moto]

Well, I did it.  Actually the first Monsters I've ever ridden.  Both the 796 and 1100 were fun bikes, but the 1100s is my pick hands down.  I could really enjoy riding one of these.

I told Marty that letting a Ducati ride demo a different bike is like passing a crack pipe around.

Biggest difference I can see between it and my ST3s is its light weight and shorter wheel base.  The ST you just lean and head it in the desired direction.  The Monster you just whip it one way or the other and you are gone.  Fun.
Best deal of the day was a leather jacket I picked up.  It is the Ducati Corse  07 model

Got it for 400.00 in my JUMBO size.  My size should be cheaper since all they have to do is take a full cow skin and put a zipper on it.  Perfect fit.

Anyway, I look good now.

The 796 was a really nice ride, good power for the engine size, nice stock suspension.  By far the lightest clutch pull I've felt, it would be a great commuter.

Did you get enough time on it to evaluate the new seat?

The seat was wide an comfortable in my opinion.  I agree with the clutch pull on the 796.  The only thing I didn't care for was the electronic dash.   Turn signal dash lights were barely visible.

looks nice in person; still not crazy about how those stock exhaust are shaped though.  but that's nitpicking i think.
