Title: Dainese Size L?
Post by: DaFoose on July 06, 2010, 12:39:28 PM
I'm going to try to go see a Ducati jacket a guy is selling, he says it's size large. He doesn't say the brand, but it says "Ducati Course Jacket" so I would half assume it's Dainese. If so do they sell in alpha sizes? If so anyone know what it would equate to (44,46,48 american)?

It's a smoking deal if it is Dainese, and I'd probably buy it even if it doesn't fit. But I won't be able to check it out for a couple of days

I'm not completely sure, but I think leather jackets have always been numerical (Euro 56 = US 46, but very slim fit) whereas textile used to be alpha, but is now numerical.
There are lots of copies out there, so don't expect too much.

In the downloadable Ducati apparel catalogue, size L fits between US 40 and 42 - given the slim/small fit I'd say closer to a 40.

Our jackets have never been sized that way.  Be carefull.  There is a ton of knock-offs out there, especially Ducati apparel.

Ducati lists the textile jackets with alpha sizes on their site. If you look at the 80s line the textile riding jacket is alpha and the leather is numeric.

I've got an 80s textile from a couple years back in XXL. My Santa Monica jacket is a 56 (eu size). The xxl is roomier than the 56, but probably about 1/2 step, like a 57 if there was such a thing.

I bought a Ducati Historical leather Jacket new from a Ducati Dealer several years ago and it was a XXXL.

I think I figured since at the time I was wearing a US size 48 that it must be an equivalent 48.

Going by that a XXL would be a 46 and an XL 44 and L a 42.

Those are my guesses.

It could at worst be one size up.....a 44.

To clarify; leather Dainese made Ducati apparel has never been sized alpha.  I have seen a recent rash of Ducati knock-offs come through, and I would't trust them on a tricycle.  If it seems like too good a deal, it likely is.  If you can get a photo for me, I would be happy to verify authenticity.

Looking over the picture, I don't see Dainese anywhere on it. Here is the link to the craigslist site:

I suppose it could still be a knockoff Ducati jacket, but apparently the guy selling it doesn't know the difference between "course" and "corse"

So at any rate, decent deal you think?

If that's for reals that's a steal!

My 80s jacket doesn't have any Dainese badging  in it either. Though I'm pretty sure they did the making of it. But of course, Dan will know for sure.

Definitely not a Dainese.  I don't recall that being in the Corse Apparel line up either, but I could be wrong.

Two things are for sure; it has no armor, and I am seeing a lot of single stitching, meaning I would not use this as a riding jacket.  It would make a fine fashion jacket though.  My gut is still saying knock-off.

I'm saying bullshit on it being any " real "  Ducati Corse leather Jacket ( after looking at the photo ) in the past several years and I'll even go out on a limb and say 5 years.

I have 3 from the past 3 years and there is no " family " resemblance of this one to my Ducati Corse leather Jackets.

All 3 of mine are similar in certain ways but different in a more ' modern ' way like all Dainese made leather Jackets the newer they are.

It can't really be anything else than a fake.
Jackets like that made by Dainese/Ducati-Dainese would have had armor and be better made. Missing pre-curved sleeves too. Not at all suited as protective riding gear. My 0.02.

Nevertheless - a cool and cheap leisure jacket.

Thanks, i dont' wear leasure jackets cept in winter, and then I need something warm. I never really thought to look for armor and precurved sleaves. I suppose if I tried it on it would be blatently obvious lol. I'll just skip this one, Thanks again!
