Ok - Western suburbs - extremely West!!  ;D

And there are others that don't live in the city (but closer than me) - like Ungeheur and Ducmeister.

Not wanting to be unsociable, but I fail to see the wisdom of publically posting the location where your pride n joy is stored.

Perhaps you should be more sociable then and schedule a meet up for the Victorian gang [cheeky]

But I completely understand your apprehension ;D

Ouch.  :'(  :-*

Betty, Unge has hosted a wonderful ride for us and gone a long way out of his way to come riding with me in part of my playground.  I can well understand his motivations for remaining secretive.  [thumbsup]

I found the best way to tempt Melbournites out of the woodwork is to invite them to meet up over breakfast first and then a ride, weather and time permitting.

Outer Eastern suburbs. Only know two people with Monsters and one is too busy to ride. I'm in if you'll have me :-*

[laugh] Went fishing, caught a big one :P

Heather, I remember reading about bikes and ferries, etc ... I thought I was being subtle. I thought the breakfast rides were more about breakfast and less about rides.

Besides haven't you been on more rides with NSW members than Victorian? ;)

Unge...totally understand if u dont want to post what suburb ur in, just keen to know whos in the Nthrn suburbs..or eastern or wherever.. just to get an idea of how many Vic members are here that enjoy riding..or keen to ride :)

Koko..you can add another to ur list if u like..lol, lm always interested in heading out for a ride. I know the weather hasnt been the best..and l am a sooky la la with cold weather, but if the suns out then lm all for it  [thumbsup]

Being in the nthrn suburbs...l tend to ride out to Healesville Bakery through Eltham, Kangaroo Ground, Yarra Glen.. which is a good run.

I thought the breakfast rides were more about breakfast and less about rides.  Umn yes they have been.  [roll]  We've just come to the realization that you either ride or socialise.  Doing both on a day ride is too difficult for people who have to travel big distances to get home. ie - moi.
Besides haven't you been on more rides with NSW members than Victorian? ;)  Yes  [thumbsup]

But still gotta stick up for my fellow Mexicans even if I'm a Sandgroper.   ;D

Not secretive.  Just not broadcasting over chanel www.  You and others know where to find me  ;)   Those who dont... I'll see on the next ride  8)

I agree about those so-called breakfast rides too.  Too much  [coffee] and not enough  [moto] for my likin'  ;D.

Despite the cold a good day out was had. Due to my late arrival plans got changed along the way, so Kinglake next time  [thumbsup] .

Always good catchin fellow DMFers for some Monster time, and great to meet another of the faithful in koko64 today.  Some good riding and much interesting stuff discussed over reviving coffee.

U's bike made mine look a bit old, but I love the old girl. U has done a fantastic job, it looks even better in the flesh. It was great to discuss the evolution of the Monster model and compare how things have changed.
That photo of the bikes is like one of Penelope Cruz talking with Sofia Loren!

You know, it was so cold my oil sight glass is still fogged over after 200kms (120 miles) of riding. I rode to Kinglake two weeks ago and my oil sight glass was clear afterwards!

I could not have done that ride with the standard carbs, as modified as they were. The bike ran beautifully with the FCRs. If you want to ride on those sunny but freezing winter days, and you have an older Monster, get the FCRs, you won't regret it.

We'll go to Kinglake next time.

I'm an inner northern Melbourne monster rider. Trudging through a lovely Melbourne winter.

I'm lucky enough to ride every day, I even get up to 60kl/h on a good day.

On a bad day I'm battling a dry clutch that's forcing me into the path of a tram because the cluch is fully engaged 'cos it's stuck together with the rain that has been passing through open clutch cover :(

Other things that happened this winter:
Rode home in the dark 'cos my headlight blew
Rode home without a taillight 'cos it blew
Push started the the big 998 donkl 'cos I accidently left the ignition on park all day
Pushed the bike 2 km to a servo 'cos my fuel guage decided to stop working (still to be fixed)
Riding home in the dark with the visor up and rain spearing my eyeballs 'cos I'm too stupid to take my dark visor off.
Sitting at work all day with a damp crotch 'cos I was too stupid to put wet weather pants on that morning.

But I love hitting the wet Tram lines at an angle that kicks the back end out.
I love getting home before the cage drivers do.
I love parking in the city for free.
and I can't wait for the weather to fine up so I can hit the twisties in the hills again.

I must be off now and enjoy another  [wine] by the fire  8)  But I really need to wash the bike.....

Well said Dos!!!! Ride all the time in all weathers and you still enjoy the experience and you get good at it! [thumbsup]

The ride in the rain makes the hot shower great, the wine excellent and the smile on the dial huge!  ;D [clap] [bow_down] [beer] [wine]

And the wet crutch always seems to happen no matter how good the wet gear is, and of course the big wet patch on the stomach where the water wicks up the jacket! Luverly[roll]

nice work Dos....

when you ride well in the rain.....it feels good...like you're getting better at it all and making progress

and then when you ride badly, poor angles, bad corners etc.....geez!

looking forward to some good long rides in spring though!

Rode behind a Tassie mate from Scottsdale to Launceston in the rain once and learned a lot!  I struggled to keep up and he had his girlfriend on the back!  Lots of practise in the rain I guess.

Yarra Valley, Dandenongs, Kinglake, Yarra Glen/Toolangi, etc. I'm easy. We can go as far as time allows, warm up with a cuppa and turn back. I don't mind.

I'll need to be home about 1pm.
I'll catch up with you later in the week and we can work out the details.
