I bought a s2r 1000 2 years ago...and my dealer promptly went out of business. It's 150 miles to the closest dealer and I'm mechanically inept. I love the bike..it's perfect, but need to know what i'm up against over the next few years. I'm at 5K on the clock...do I trade? I mean I really love the bike.

You only need to go to the dealer for warranty work. Regular maintenance can be done by you or any competent shop. There is lots of great help here for doing it yourself in Tech (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=4.0) and Tutorials (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=54.0).
You might try posting up in General (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=1.0) to see if anyone can recommend a (non-dealer) shop near you.
IMO if you really love the bike, it's worth keeping...I wouldn't sell just because there is no convenient dealership.
