Post by: CajunR on July 30, 2010, 10:47:10 AM
As some of you may know, my wife and I made a pact when I bought the Hyper:  I get a Ducati, and we start to try to have our first kid....

eight weeks later...

[clap] Best wishes to you and the missus, that's great news. [thumbsup] Gonna name them Valle and The Ben if they're boys? [laugh]

congrats!! many funny moments are in your future..........some headaches also. but it's worth it!

don't get stung by the same thing my wife got me with. "I have seen you ride. Don't you agree that it's best that you sell the bike until the kids get older because there is no way i could handle having you seriously injured and two young kids?"
it was said with that look and in that tone that only women know how to use. you know the one that says...my suggestion to you is to agree! 10 years later i got a new bike.

ROFL  Thanks, guys!  We've already had the 'keep the bike' talk.  I'm safe for now.  She's cool with it.  She was also cool with the couple of wheelies I did on the way home...  I had to celebrate!  [thumbsup]

You've choosen wisely grasshopper! I've been riding longer than my wife has been alive, she can fuss but it falls on deaf ears. Even the turkey encounter didn't help her cause. But I can easily see how having some young kiddos could alter your thinking while riding. Maybe a good thing. Might help cut down on the "hey, hold my beer and watch what I can do on my bike!" stuff. Not saying that's you, just a general thought. [thumbsup]

Enjoy your last few months of uninterrupted sleep.

Seriously

I have two.  I love them something crazy.

But these last 3 years have aged me 10.

Hope you have lots of family nearby.

enjoy them, they wreck your life, but if you have fun it is worth it.

Thanks, guys.   [thumbsup]  I seriously appreciate all the kind words and encouragement.  My sister and her husband live in Lewisville, but the rest of my clan is in the New Orleans area...  Both of our moms are chomping at the bit to visit more often.  I've told them both that the guest bedroom is always open.  I think between the two of them (and the parade of aunts and cousins that are going to visit) and our friends, we'll be able to cope.

Now, the first step is to trade my 2-door car in for something with 4 doors.  My parents have offered us their minivan, but a man is nothing without his principles...  [cheeky]

Why?  ???

Is it because a minivan will carve corners better than a Harley?  ;)

The Brembos from Harly use pistons made of leather. Old school '30s technology, but with chrome. Shiny shiny chrome.

One '07 Scion tC replaced with an '06 VW Passat.   [thumbsup]  Now we shop for cribs... and car seats... and strollers... and holy crap I need to sell a kidney...  :P

Seriously, though... I need to sell my DR-Z.  (This was the plan WAY before the twins made themselves known.  I just don't ride it since I bought the Hyper.)  Anybody know anyone interested in a 'tard?

I know the general rule about the mods being worth more off the bike, and that I should return it to stock and sell the bits piecemeal, but I'm going to try to sell it all together at first.  If I don't get any takers, I'll start putting the stock bits back on it.  Mods/add ons (off the top of my head): 39mm FCR-MX, 320mm Braking rotor, SS brake line, Zeta levers, Zeta handguards and integrated turn signals, Edge tail light and LED signals, Corbin seat, full Muzzy SS exhaust, DRC wide pegs, MSR shifter, TT axle sliders, CRC case savers, ...  I know there's more...
I still have all the stock bits as well.  14,000 miles.  $4k buys the lot.  Title soon to be in hand.  Man, I love this silly little bike...
