Well someone had to get the ball rolling on this one .
So throw some dates up and then we can vote on the day
that suits the majority
And add your name to the list.
Here is the ride route borrowed from DOCNSW

UPDATE: 18 September has some interest
To quote myself (twice):
Quote from: Betty on August 01, 2010, 01:16:29 AM
On rotation should be the first Saturday in October ... but I would think that will be the long weekend and double demerits.
Perhaps Saturday 25th September (yes 2010)? I'm sure that date clashes with something important ... but I'm sure you will all let me know soon enough.
Quote from: Betty on August 01, 2010, 09:32:32 PM
Well I mentioned the next ride in the thread about yesterday's ride but thought this would be a more appropriate place. This one (as usual) will need a bit of input. My take on things at the moment:
. The next ride would/should be a Saturday (per rotation policy)
. First weekend of October (two months) is the long weekend (double demerit)
. Long weekend is the middle weekend of school holidays so weekends each side are also within school holiday period
. Weekend following school holidays is MotoGP weekend
. So how about before the school holidays? This means that it won't be as long before the next big group ride ;D
How does Saturday 18th September sound?
... which is a Ducati supported ride day at the Creek
... and to take up on Matty's point, this is the day before the DOC Concours
Just so you know.
I am planning track day 2nd October (no [leo] there!)
18th sound OK to me.
either day sounds good to me
looking at the map
the road from wisemans out to st albans is a fairly nice good road now all tarred , slightly bumpy in spots when i went out there the other day but a good fang road as pretty good visibility and buckleys chance of police [thumbsup]
the return on the other side of the river is shithouse as per the notes
Find a shady spot to park the bike and grab a locally brewed beer and a snack at the historic St Albans Pub. Returning to Wisemans Pub via Settlers Road which is gravel and potholes, alternativly return via Webbs Creek ferry staying on the tar. Turn left from the pub into Wharf Street.
so either take the ferry to st albans come back across same ferry and then across the other ferry and on to spencer etc
or make it 4 ferries and dont go to st albans
I'm good for 18th September. 2nd October is no good though, as I'll be in the US.
18th is fine for me.
I'm in on any day . Just say the word "lets go " [moto] [thumbsup] ;D :D :) ;) 8) [coffee] [drink] [laugh] [cheeky] [popcorn]
The Doc Concours d’Elegance
Sunday, 19th September, 2010
Is going to clash for me and others i guess,on that weekend. :'(
Sorry guys going to give this one a miss. The concours is the go!
It is a democratic decision so lets throw some other dates up there.
I have a lot on in September and will be away in early skiing and late in Indonesia traveling
so how about early October as an alternative?
Or how about late August ??
October is motogp at phillip island so that's no good for us. Plus the September date is no good because I will be finishing night shift and we don't wanna go through that again. [roll]
Dez, leave the date, if people can make it they can make it - this is one situation where history has proven that democracy does not work!

I agree! Hell, go on the 18th with whoever turns up and then we can always organise another in October! [thumbsup]
Very true, it is best to pick a date and say we're going.
Whoever can make it, can make it. As soon as there is a range of dates it gets complicated.
So let's say the 18th is it and those who can get there will, otherwise there is always the next one.
Now that there is a bigger group of people I think we might find more people out more often.
My 2c's worth.
Oh, and I think that I may actually make this one.... it's been a while...
Well blow me down!

Looks like the 18th is a viable option for me.. just a cruisy run... Maybe get the snapper out again.
How about yourself Mostro?

Not sure at this stage. If the doctor says yes, then I'll be in, otherwise I may need to wait for another weekend. Will try to be there though!
Apologies for starting something I cannot finnish [bang]
I will be out of the country on the selected date
so feel free anyone to takeover this ride or postpone to a later date.
I will not be back until the end of September
so If you do this ride enjoy and ride safe.

I would be guessing the Mobil Servo Berowra is the start/finish point (loop)? Check "Moto Where" website with "DOCNSW Five Ferries Run".
Could someone kindly confirm?
It's all here Blondy http://www.motowhere.com/maps/route/Five-Ferries-Ride (http://www.motowhere.com/maps/route/Five-Ferries-Ride) anyway looks good to me
Hang on, you two live together, right?
And yet you need the forum to communicate...
I'm just helping the disadvantaged, whereever I can, Thanks Suzy

Time I'm guessing 8:30 for 9am departure.
Anyone know that route off the top of their heads?
I don't have access to a printer at the moment to print off the Cue Sheet (http://www.motowhere.com/cuesheet/route/Five-Ferries-Ride).
had turkey, changed oil , added fuel, i was wondering why bike wouldnt start
must investigate that fuel light
found $65 in the leathers from last trip out , woohoo yeh i'm good to go :)
Don't worry Wells, GPS on board now. So at least we'll get lost in real time.
I will be there at mobil berowra at 8.30. Mate will be tagging along too.
See you all then.
[thumbsup] [moto]
Ermmm, I see what I did here, we should have jigged when we jagged:

Small trap for new players, don't skip the third ferry and send 10 nice clean monsters down a 10km dirt track. My bad. In my defence, I did only look at the map for like 2 minutes before I left this morning.
Outside of the little dirt excursion it was a good day. [thumbsup]
But if we hadn't skipped the third ferry, we wouldn't have seen the unicyclist, or the bloody big lizard.
Awesome day.
Hey,no worries, what's a bit of dirt between friends ? An excellent day, really enjoyed it.
Cheers, until next ride . Steve

big lizard hah , thats not a big lizard lol
if we didnt miss the ferry i wouldnt have got to crap my pants when the wallaby ran out at 90 kph
Craigo.........seeing you have taken full blame for our ëxtended dirt tour"......i feel you now owe me approximately two hours labour , one satchell of turtle wax wash, around 50 mls of ct18 truck wash..(nothing else would remove the dust) ...... but will settle for a coffee tomorrow if you decide to show your face......... [laugh] ;D [cheeky] [clap].
Yours Truly,
Brian

Yer Betty you see what happens when we don't show up,
And they even get lost [roll] [laugh]
Lost, well sort of! There were 2 GPS units on the day and both had us exactly where we were.
It's just that where we were was not where we wanted to be!
If we didn't take in the dirt we wouldn't have seen the Red Bull clown's on their off road uni cycles.
We wouldn't have sharpened our off road skills on road bikes! There was only one little mishap that resulted in a broken lever, a bent rear brake lever and an oh crap I'm lucky I didn't have my new bling on.
Of course there are a few photos but just a few whilst we were at the top of the climb deciding just how far we had to go.
The view from the top.

Obviously that road sees a lot of traffic:
... parking, standing and talking in the middle of the road (or wrong side) just around a blind corner :o
there's good reason that road sees no traffic....

Even WITH the dirt excursion it was a good day - certainly made for some funny stories.
Also, I thought the "Ski Park" we pulled up near (at the beginning of the dirt) was "Del Rio", not Souths Juniors, or Mt Andrew, or whatever the heck it actually was. :-[ One thing is for sure, there was no turning back once we got to the top of that hill.
Anywho..
Quiet day for the photogs, but as Matty said, we shot some rounds on top of the mountain...

And thanks Matty for the lines coming home. SUPER helpful.
You're welcome mate.
We did look like a bit of sorry bunch didn't we. Do you think the dirt bike riders or mountain bike riders were more surprised to see a bunch of high end naked bikes riding through the bush!
My calculations there was about $150,000 worth machinery scampering up that hill...
well im glad i didnt go [roll], that dirt stuff is no good for anyone and as for getting lost hey i wasn't even there so you cant blame me ;D.
Firstly,..my sincere apologies for posting the following photos (but couldn't help myself) [cheeky] ;D
A friend of mine was passenger in a model T Ford, one of a hundred on a rally last week. He told me about this road they were on, apparently after crossing a ferry near Sackville.... [thumbsup]......YES........Model T Fords i said.... and please pay particular attention to the photo with the sharp corner....does it look familiar to anyone here...???? [moto]

To be fair Brian those cars were designed for roads like that ;D
And probably handle them better still.....
thinking ahead i did a recon ride last thursday ....hornsby ...broke....denman....bylong valley way and then enjoyed that road so much turned around and rode the same track back . I t was a good exercise to ride the bylong road twice as it is certianly interesting and enjoyable .....we should keep this one in mind now we have daylight saving on our side .
It surely is a great road.
Not for a large group though, even with daylight saving we'd struggle with having many on that road.
sounds like an overnighter at ?????[moto]...... [thumbsup]...but that needs a bit more planning

Been toying with the thought of Sydney --> Putty --> THAT ROAD --> LITHGOW --> Sydney.. Think it would be about 10 hours of solid riding though.
there is a little bit of dirt on that route (serious). ;D
Recently did the Oxley Hwy which was about 650 k's each day which was 4 legs
of about 2 hours each. That was with 4 riders though.
I'm really keen to ride That Road and have thought it might be best to do it as an overnighter (even midweek ?) So if one or two or a few of us are thinking along the same lines, let's do it ?
