Title: need advice on pants/boots
Post by: DukeDenver on August 25, 2010, 05:16:20 PM
I'm looking to upgrade my riding wear.  Currently I'm riding in jeans and doc martins (I know but it could be worse!  shorts and sneakers right  [laugh] )

I've gone into a few places to look at some sort of pants and riding boots but once i get to the walls of things i feel intimidated and dont know what to go for.

I have a M696 and mainly just tour around the country side in it looking for any sort of twisty roads I can find.  Any advice towards a comfy pair of boots and what sort of pants maybe good for protection and our fussy Canadian weather here would be great!

If possible i'd like to find some sort of pants that are good for warmer to somewhat cool night.  Cash flow next season will allow for me to buy more then one pair of pants!

Thanks in advance

i have a set of puma boots... theyre narrow, which works for me, and theyre pretty comfortable.

I had a pair of dainese textile pants that i crash tested. they passed.

If it were me I'd buy a good pair of Dainese leather pants.

Go to motowheels.com , choose brand, Dainese ,choose men's leather pants and choose either a pair of perforated for maximum air flow for hot weather or non-perfed leather pants.

Next thing you will need to do is figure out what your waist size is in US. Like a 38 or a 40, then add 18 to it to get the EU size .

i.e. a size 38 US would be a EU 56, or go the other way EU subtract 18 to get the US size.

Don't worry about the length.

If you buy a pair of Race style Boots they will fit up over the bottom of the leather pants.

The leather pants will have 1 or 2 zippers at the back of the bottom so that you can unzip them to take them off and zip them to make them tight at the bottom to fit nicely in your new Boots.

You can order w, a credit card from moto wheels online or give them a call if you feel better talking to a live person and they can answer any questions you may have.

Also if you see what you like in the Dainese line , call the Dainese Store in San Francisco and ask for Dan.

Dan is the MGR. and he is a nice guy who is most knowledgeable about all things Dainese.

You can also buy w, a credit card over the phone and have your items sent UPS.

Another place to checkout is sportbiketrackgear.com

I have bought a lot of boots and Helmets , Gloves, etc. there and their prices are very good.

thanks very much for the info!  I will def look into that over this weekend

The race style boots, are they pretty easy to walk around in?  IE short walks to pay for gas, or pickup a coffee type dealio.  Going in the drive thru for Tim Hortons is harder then you'd think on a bike!  [laugh]

I think so.

I prefer my "race" style boots around town.  They are lighter and cooler than my touring boots.

YMMV.

I have 8 pairs of " Race Boots " and I find them very comfortable and no problem for short walks like you mentioned.

I wouldn't want to walk a mile in them ( I can't walk a mile in anything due to Osteoarthritis of both Knees ) .

Moto Wheels has FREE ground shipping through Monday at Midnight PST. starting Sat., use the phrase at checkout " INDY GP ."

I have Sidi race boots (vertigo's i think) and Ductia leather pants which are Dainese flag pants non-perf. They have a streachy panel in the back with the zipper so they don't bunch up. Very comfy for me all year. (virginia). Boots are great. I can spend a day in them no problem.
