Title: Reporting bad road condition's to the RTA
Post by: Two dogs on August 30, 2010, 07:44:39 PM
I am conducting a little experiment at the moment
and if you a bored or like minded and have the time join in.

I have contacted the RTA reporting the poor road condition of my local commute road
It has been patched and filled so many times leaving it dangerous and unpleasant to ride ,
I feel like a dirt bike would be more suited to it at the moment.

So I have called the RTA  131 700 (option 5) and reported Barrenjoey Rd between Newport and Avalon as dangerous .

Now what I am thinking is if the more people call up and complain about a section of road the more likely they may actually pull the
smelly finger out and do something about it.

So if we use our community of Monster riders we may get them to spend some of our tax money on us.

Post up a road/pot hole/bad sign etc etc you get the picture
to the list and we all can phone the RTA 131700
add your name and complaint and see if we can make a difference .

Start here:
Barrenjoey Road Bilgola bends between The serpentine and Plateau rd

How about the "Moss Vale road" between Barrengary to the base of Barrengary Mountain!

Shit its rough, rutted and uneven.

You mean where they are ripping up the roads to lay new pipe? Agree!  At least Sydenham road is now smoother than ever. Hope they fix the rest like this. There are a lot of shitty roads around Marrickville at the moment.

How about the top of Sydney Park Rd where you stop at the lights before you turn right into King St. Man that intersection has been shit house for 5 or more  years.

I think its a great idea but (me and my friggin but's) I would have thought that our suburban roads are controlled by our fantastic and efficient councils and the major roads, like the one Ducmonrob mentioned are under the RTA so complain, but to the right authority  ;)

UPDATE

Well blow me down. I have been contacted by a friendly and sympathetic young lady named Melinda from the RTA
She acknowledged my complaint and has passed it onto the RTA road repair boffins and assures me some action.
On the way to work I noticed said boffins in fluro safety gear walking along my stretch of road having a good look.
[popcorn] Wont hold my breath but...............
I will keep you updated

Wow, my general cynicism about all things government may have shifted slightly. Would love to hear if it gets fixed.

The road around the Bay Run Drummoyne is shocking! maybe they can have a look at that next.

Rob

Well I tried today to complain to the RTA and I was instantly handballed to the local depot. The nice fellow there told me that I will need to complain to the local member to see any action.

So off I go sending out a letter regarding the conditions of the road.

Lets see what happens! ???

Rob

Hey Rob,

You will probably get a nice reply saying that they know how bad the roads are for us poor bike riders and that they feel very sorry but its not their area that they look after and will give you a number which you can call which turns out to be one of those automated ones that you will have to listen to a thousand times just so you can punch in the next number and listen to the next automated verbal diarrhoea, and on and on it will go.  [thumbsup]

Well it worked .........kind off, they repaired most of the potholes be it a somewhat feeble attempt [thumbsdown]
you know just throw some hot mix in it and tramp it down which should last until the next heavy rains.
But I will be calling old mate up again at the RTA (silly bugger gave me his mobile number) as the most
annoying hole is a section is de-laminating in the late brake/tip in on the deepest corner.
