Who has an advantage on a track that no one knows?
The fast guys
I meant specifically. In any race at this point Lorenzo or Pedrosa, but this might be the race for a dark horse.
Define dark horse...
I don't think you're going to see Kallio or any of the guys at the dull end of the grid suddenly jump to the sharp end.
The guys at the top of the championship standings are there for a reason.
Why no Capirossi?
Those that consistently don't crack the top 10 are out.

So speed channel has the race listed to start at 6am this morning live and I wake up early on Sunday no less to see Neck-car?
Then I check the MotoGP page thinking that maybe the race was postponed only to find that it's already over?
[bang] [bang]
what happened to Dovi?
I was loving the battle between him and Spies and then looking away for a moment only see Spies cross the finish.

Speed just about always shows it at 8am EST. It should be on again at 5pm EST.
Tell me about it. I honestly hardly watch television. All I ask is to be able to watch some good racing in the early morning before my wife and daughter wake up in peace and quiet, lol. Guess not. :'(

Finally a decent race!
Good job by Stoner...he was riding the wheels off that thing to stay ahead of Pedrobot. His mini tank slapper mid way thru the race was crazy! [bow_down] :o
Awesome showing by Nicky!!!! [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [thumbsup] Great set-up on Lorenzo!
...and my DirecTV guide showed it correctly at 5am this morning. ???
I think it was Comcast that screwed up. Anyway, I was screaming for Nicky to pass Lorenzo for the last quarter of that race. It was a good race.

Thanks guys for the heads up on the speed screw up this morning ..bev and charlie both had it screwed
It looks like the hard work on fixing the Desmo's handling problems is finally paying off.
From MotoGP.com
Stoner has struggled with front end problems this season on his Desmosedici GP10 but in qualifying he set a blistering pace. The 24 year-old was the only rider under 1’49†at 0.309s quicker than closest rival Jorge Lorenzo, and explained that the modifications made to his machine had enabled him to feel more comfortable when pushing for faster lap times.
“We've been trying different things for the last few weekends to try and get the bike more competitive without making really big progress but it looks like we might have found something here,†said Stoner.
“We've changed the weight distribution a little bit and it has given me more grip and confidence. Maybe it's just the fact the bike suits this place but either way we've got to be happy to be back on pole for the first time since Qatar. I also like riding at new circuits â€" when you haven't already done a million laps around a place it's always refreshing.â€

MAYBE BOTH...I covered my ass and just recorded the later in the afternoon broadcast and went riding...
anyways...great race...and Nicky is too damn polite...
Quote from: Nicky Hayden....I was able to get a good start and stay with Jorge. There wasn't really anywhere I could get a wheel in and over the last couple of laps he pushed hard to get away but I decided that fourth wasn't good enough for me today. I did a bit of a backyard move in the chicane over there and managed to hold him off to the line.....
isn't that what racing is about Nicky?...do what it takes to get ahead of your opponent...within reason...and that was a nice clean pass in my opinion...Jorge would have done the exact same thing given the chance...hell..most of the paddock would have...
The Spies Dovi thing was awesome...hell...I love this track...it was some GREAT race viewing and racing...although, I think I would fall asleep on my track bike going down that straight...otherwise...what an excellent track...I hope they keep returning to that circuit!!!
Moto2....Wholly wow is Elias "The Man"...gets knocked going into turn 1...keeps from spilling and works his way from 14th to 4th....amazing ride..moreso than Ianonne's IMHO...that boy checked out though.....
I was more screaming at Nicky to pass Lorenzo already. He is just not aggressive at all.
^^^ I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one yelling at the TV.

that's a matter of perspective. if he didn't feel he was able to gap him after the pass, he made it when it counted. if he'd passed him earlier, it woulda given jorge more opportunities to "gather it up" and repass him before the flag.
How can you not scream at the TV when you see a guy tip-toeing around the track. That bike was setup to be pushing for 2nd, but he got all caught up behind Lorenzo.
I thought Hayden did a great job. [thumbsup] He passed Lorenzo when it mattered and made it stick...with what was a fairly aggressive pass. If him and Lorenzo would have been mixing it up earlier, then it is likely that Spies and Dovi would have caught them, turning a 2-way battle into a 4-way one. Waiting until the end was a good move IMO.
I don't know about second...Perdrobot was flying and gapped Lorenzo and Hayden. He almost caught Stoner, but Stoner was riding the wheels off that thing trying to stay ahead. He gapped Pedro at the end, but I think part of that might have been Pedro accepting second to keep it on 2 wheels.

You don't agree that he has to be more aggressive? He has the skills to be up there and he had a faster bike. He caught up to Lorenzo and sat there for at least 8 laps before making his move.

I think he did a good job.
Even a faster bike doesn't make someone like Lorenzo easy to pass.
Nicky obviously felt he didn't have the lap times to pull away from Jorge and if he made the move too early he'd have to do the work all over, or even lose the podium if Lorenzo moved on him in the last corner.

Plus, watch the cam from Lorenzo's bike looking back at Hayden. A turn or two before he passed Lorenzo, Hayden almost lost it...looked like he momentarily lost the front end.
I don't think he was tiptoeing.
Finally a decent race to watch. Whew. That said, watching the lightest guy on the track on the fastest bike pass the slowest bike on the track down a straightaway isn't that fun.
The Ben is an absolute DEMON on the brakes. He talked about it last year, but it was pretty epic to watch. I woulda liked to see him stay in touch with Nicky and George. Man, looking at the top speeds lap by lap, his bike was the suck.
Did anyone catch Stoner lose the front and then pick it up when showed that one slow speed HD pass? He's a lunatic. He does that on virtually every turn.
Nicky's pass was excellent. I don't entirely buy Jorge's excuse that he didn't fight back because of the championship. Nicky just parked it in front of him on the racing line and didn't give him an option. Awesome. To be sure, if Jorge coulda fought back, he might have decided not to. But Nicky didn't give him the chance.
I didn't see RDP's crash, but the still pic I saw of if looked G-narly. Apparently, he's alright.
Stoner's stand up was the best I've seen since Hopper left GP and started racing minibikes again.
Honda's gonna have quite a package of riders next year with both Douchebot and Stoner.

I tend to agree. Sitting on Jorge until the end was good race craft. Just sit and follow and let Jorge burn up his tires trying to stay away. Nicky's not dumb. I think he knew that if he passed early that would only give Jorge many chances to return the favor. Like Nicky said, "No more fourths!" I think it was well executed. [thumbsup] [moto]

i'm still annoyed by this.. >:( ;D
if you spend an entire race parked behind someone only to pass them in the last or next to last corner, esp if you take the last podium spot doing it, that's not lack of aggression. that's racecraft. you also really wear the guy down mentally by being within striking distance lap after lap after lap.. valentino practically invented that tactic.
and nicky's no dummy. he knows that if he passes jorge and then gives him a couple laps to do something about it, he's probably going to.

When Rossi does this it's a pass for first. If he's claying his way through the field, then he'll be passing guys left and right (if he has the bike and body for it). I understand the move and how he set him up. All I'm saying is that he had a better bike and he should be confident enough to pass the guy and expect to put a gap on him.
