I was riding west on 697 between Sherman and Whitewright. There were five sportbikes riding fast headed east. One of them passed a truck in a corner coming toward me. I turned around when I got to Sherman, passed them again going the other way a few minutes later. I turned around again. I was going the same direction as they were but I could not see them. I come to a corner and saw a guy with gear on the side of the road so I slowed, then I saw his bike on the ground next to barbed wire fence. I stopped to see if he ok or needed help. He had gotten his bike up by the time I stopped. He said he went into the corner a little hot, I couldn't tell what happened but there was a skid mark on the road all the way back to where you would turn into the turn. It looked like he locked up the rear, then slid down in the wet grass.
He stopped sliding just short of going through the fence. He got his bike (Silver R6) started and took off. I followed him because his buddies had not made it back to find him yet. Even after just going down, he was riding faster than I was. His friends finally came back for him and they all stopped at the church on 11.
I'm glad he wasn't hurt, it could have been much worse. I went on with my ride but I had a weird feeling after that, like I should go home before something bad happened to me. Everyone be careful out there!
Y'know, if ya stand on the railroad tracks long enough, you'll get run over by a train.
If you ride like an idiot - or way beyond your skill level - long enough, bad things are gonna happen.
His bad judgment won't cause you harm... but someone else's bad judgment might.
Be alert. Be sober. Be seen. Be alive.
That's my sermon for today. Can I get an "amen"?
Brother George
Amen
How was that? ;D
Ill put in an Amen. Loosing one good friend is enough.
glad to hear he wasn't hurt
I don't to see anyone go down, but it is great when they get up. Stay off that rear brake.
