Title: rode the hypermotard
Post by: de5m0mike on June 09, 2008, 07:35:15 AM
Went to a vintage motorcycle show on Sunday at the Gilmore Car museum here in Michigan and had a chance to test drive a few bikes. Lifecycle (a Triumph and Ducati dealer) out of Kalamazoo had a booth set up where you could sign up to ride about 8 different bikes. I rode the hypermotard. It blew my freaking mind it was so much fun to ride. Getting on the throttle in 2nd and 3rd gear brought the front tire right off the ground. Scary part was half the time you didn’t even realize it was off the ground. I was taking off hard into this slight bend in the road (don't worry it was a closed road for the demos) and when I went to turn the bike nothing happened. I thought damn these handle bars seem loose. Then I realized it was because the front tire wasn’t on the ground. I almost shit my pants right then. If I could afford a second bike right now I’d get this one purely because of the huge grin it left on my face the whole rest of the day. I never would have thought the 1100 engine had so much more power than my little 750.

THe Hypermotard looks like so much fun.  I'm sure my CDL wouldn't last very long if I purchased one of those ~

This is the bike I currently lust after.

Thinking of getting rid of my 675 to do it too. . .

>:(  thanks for posting that review.  I can not stop thinking about this bike.  Im thinking I should go test ride one.

You know what test rides lead to.

Cash shortages.  That's what [laugh]

I am going to see the Duc truck in two weeks.

I hope they have one.

My monster is already half way out the door for one.

Would be a hell of a fun second bike for a little quick, close-by hooliganism -- I read the range is around 100 mile max between fill-ups due to the svelte little tank & fairly prodigious appetite of the motor, even less if ridden the way the Hyper would seem to beg to be ridden.

There were either two or three Hypermotards when they visited Ace Motorsports in Concord.  We weren't allowed to get any wheels off of the ground on the test rides, though.  I would recommend going early on the first day to get signed up for the bikes that you really want.  Those that showed up after noon didn't have much of a choice.

the motard is a riot, thats really the only way to describe it. I got to play with one with the pipe and chip and it had plenty of pep. And it handled great, it was just so weird the way you pitched it into corners, felt like you could keep turning till you touched a lever down on that bike.

Love the hypermotard. Really hard to lane split with it here in California though. Gotta change those mirrors.

Thought this board was about moto biking not lusting after chicks with short skirts and legs that could crush a watermelon.
