Anyone know who this bike belongs to?
...and does anyone know what that instrument pod cover (black) is?
I'm pretty sure this bike was posted up here last year. I think it was a 1-off on Ducati Island. I think they put in a 1098 engine or something completely different. The other side you can see the dry clutch, and I think a SSS.
I knew I could find it...
I'm not sure about the rules on this, but there is a huge thread on that other site. Mods, if I can't link it from here, just delete the link.

Built by brian peterson who's a buddy of mine, I'll ask him about the gauge cover for ya
Not much 696 left in that bike [laugh]. It is a thing of beauty though.
From some photos in the .ms thread - it's an aftermarket gauge
Is that a 696 headlight and would it be easily modded to the S4RS?
The guy that built it was posting on here. If I remember right he made a home account and work account. Then got accused of promoting his business without paying minor sponsorship. He got offended and said fine I just won't post here. :/

Definitely looks like a 696 headlight; can't imagine it'd be too difficult to retrofit it onto S4RS.. wiring might be different, though?

That would be awesome! Brian's pod cover would be the perfect replacement for the stock bikini fairing
Thanks
Thanks all - you guys are right on - it was Brian's display bike on Ducati Island.. from what I can gather, it has a 1098 SSS and definitely no longer has the innards of a 696
I'd like to model my bike after his, in bits and pieces of course - really tempted to get clip-ons now :)
Brian's a great guy, and I'm sure if your anywhere close to New Jersey he would be very happy to talk with you about what he did.
Here's a shot from the other side:

He is working on another very cool, very custom Duc at the moment, but I'm sworn to secrecy and can't share pics/info.

**HAHA!! I was just thinking about your girl on it Randall!! Thanks for posting as I'm typing. [thumbsup]
It's a Tech dash with a 1098 dash cover [thumbsup]

You're the man, thanks bro...on the downside, I saw some pictures of it and it seems like it'd need quite a bit of modification to get it to fit a 696 instrument pod :(

I haven't seen postings from you in ages as I've been spending all my time on the SBK forum, but seeing as how I sold my 1098 and picked up a Monster S4RS I figure I'll be hanging around here again.
Anyhow here's another shot just for the hell of it:

Haha, I'm sure it can be done... just not sure how easy it is for a non-mechanically inclined, tool-less newb like me to cut and modify a carbon fiber pod cover to make it fit :)
eBay's got some for like $40 shipped, maybe worth a shot
..I imagine the stock 696 pod cover is completely open in the back

I'm still here. I FINALLY bought a new bike too back in Feb..a black '10 1100. Already with 7000 miles..and one nail! [cheeky]
I saw you were selling the 1098. Seems like I saw that on your site when I was checking out pipes for the new Monster.
Anyway, that's a nice pic of the Monster but I was thinking about the one with her on it. [thumbsup]

This bike has just made me a believer in the new Monster. Never thought I'd like the squat headlight and the thick subframe, but man, that thing looks amazing with the clip-ons, the 4-valve engine, and the integrated exhaust. Absolutely beautiful.
Does anyone have a guess how much this was, all told? I know those Ohlins are a pretty penny. Wonder what it came to all said and done, original bike, engine, parts, and labor. That thing is sexier than an 1198!

I think it may have started with a 999
wow, I like the exhaust and the idea of the liquid cooled power plant.
Reading through this thread, I was pretty sure I'd taken a pic of the instruments on this bike in Indy.
Here ya go...

lol, sweet. What a badass looking setup
Wow, this bike is RIDICULOUS (in a good way... lol)
Just to keep this alive, this bike is sex. Does anyone have pics of the completed, roadgoing version? I know there are a few pics of it with carbon fiber bodywork, but most I've seen still lack an airbox and a few other odds and ends. Also, did they ever get the radiator clearance worked out?
As far as I remember the owner ran away with his tail between his legs when we questioned him. :-*

Nothing new there.
beautiful. I would love to do this to my 1100 evo.
did that bike ever run? no brake lines? dont get me wrong.. its gorgeous. I just wonder if it ever became a registered road bike.
there were issues with radiator clearance, etc.
I think he eventually figured it all out and had offered the conversion for sale as a kit, but I never heard of anyone taking him up on one.
Did the 696s used to have single sided swingarms or did they mod it? Beautiful bike!
that was out before the 1100 I think
it was a SBK swingarm IIRC
wow - so this thread awoke from the dead again....

Its a show pony. A very, very sexy show pony. But 696? There's little 696 in it.
Not aware of anything called 696s, but 696 never had a SSS.
