Title: Hello from EG
Post by: awdconvert on October 13, 2010, 01:42:27 PM
Soooo, my name is Chris. I live in Elk Grove (a Sacramento, CA suburb). I've been riding about 4 1/2 months now and loving every second. I took some GREAT advice and bought a 2000 Ninja 250 as my first bike, which I use to commute ~40 miles a day, 5 days a week. On the weekends, schedule (and wife  ;D) permitting, I hit the twisties. It's a great bike--nothing like banging through the gears and throwing a lightweight, high-revving, easy-to-handle bike around the corners on a Sunday morning. The sucky part is riding on the freeway at 9000rpm, going 72mph for 20 minutes.

Anyway, I normally hang out at local sportbike forums (BARF, Sacriders, SacramentoCrotchRockets), but I've really been thinking of getting a Monster as my next bike. The bike that got me thinking about it is Jammen's high mileage '05 M620 that's currently for sale. I was set on a Honda CBR 600F4i, but I loove the styling of the Monsters and the L-twin's torque would be nice for the commute and riding in the city.

Anyway, I ramble. Hope to get some good info from here and maybe meet some of you good folks.   [beer]

Welcome Chris! :)

We're a little far from you but you might also want to stop in and introduce yourself to us hooligans in the MOB (http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=19.0) (Monsters of the Bay Area). [evil] ;D

I rode a friend's 250 from Foster City to Sacramento, so I am familiar with the buzziness.  I think you will find the Monster a lot more comfy on the freeway. [thumbsup]  It is also good for city riding, and pretty fun in the twisties, a nice all-around choice.  Although I love the 250 in the twisties. [moto]

Good luck with your search and keep us updated!

Thanks, all, for the replies.

Slow Guy, thanks for the links. Maybe we can do a ride when I get my Monster!

somegirl, thanks. You know my pain with the 250! I have peeps in the Bay so maybe I'll meet some of you guys out there some time.

@slow guy
Absolutely. I went for a ride around Berryessa with a group of about 30 riders, and I had the smallest and probably oldest bike there. I just ride my own ride--I was just happy to be out there. Besides, I was passing up a couple of bigger bikes by the end of the day.  [thumbsup]

Any time you want to ride, let me know! Just figured it would be cool to have two monsters riding along and confusing some of the local folk.   [moto]
