Title: Big November News!
Post by: junior varsity on November 04, 2010, 12:27:52 PM
Lots going on, I thought I'd put some things in one place for easy reference:

Shop related news:

Sunday, November 7th - AMS Euro-Only trackday at Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, TX

Thursday, November 11th - Diavel Unveiling Party at AMS, including looks into the new workshop on Leslie St, with Dyno Room (no more open dyno, we can all go back to hearing as normal!), squeaky clean floor and benches, you name it. It will be the #1 workshop in the country, for sure.

Weekend of the 13th - International Motorcycle Show - Your opportunity to see Diavel, 848evo, 1198 SP, and much more!

Community Related News:

Group Ride to Muenster on Sunday, Nov. 7th for those not headed to the track - get with Muskrat (Dax) if you are interested in joining up

No-Shave November, or Novembeard has begun. Please do not shave your face until Tuesday, November 30th, for which we will all descend upon an unsuspecting bar and attempt to amuse each other with hilarious facial hair. Last year I did the "Paul Sr." from OCC, with the Fu-Manchu that went down my neck.

Also, please note that November 22 (11/22) is my birthday. You'll need to start gift shopping early to beat the holiday rush.

As the law school semester winds down, or should I say "exam season heats up", I am beginning to think of winter-doldrum-defeating events for the Texas Ducati Owners Club. I am hoping to make the events regular, and work with Corsair Industries to get Alternator Inspection Covers with TDOC logos. Thought that would be neat.

What's up with the facial hair thing?  An annual ritual
that's new to me, or just something for guys to bond with?

Is Leslie St across from AMSD?

Ever thought about enjoying life?

It isn't the ugliest bike Ducati has released, the Indiana is.

Yep, those were kinda ugly for sure. If you squint your eyes just right it looks like an old '83 Honda Magna.

It's funny you say that because just as the cover was about to be lifted and Jeff was introducing it as the New... Ducati... Cruiser, someone near the mic exclaimed, "The INDIANA!"

Weird moment for sure.

I did like the bike though.  To me, it's the third Ducati to come out recently that looks better "in person" than on the web (the other two being the Multistrada and 1098).  The Diavel looks to be very well put together, the proportions are "right" with a rider  on it.  And in typical Ducati fashion, the thing is light, powerful, and has brakes that should stop a freight train...

What's not to like?  [laugh]

it was probably me - the indiana was right next to it

[laugh]  At the party, I had to think for a minute to try and come up with a mental image of the Indiana (I was in the cheap seats at the very back... by the bar).  Never did exactly but I did know enough to know it probably was not one of Ducati's more popular bikes.  Oh well, I think the timing might work for the Diavel this time around.

And I have to say, you've got some awesome new digs on Lesley Street.  Top notch.  As much as I liked the looks of the new work space, though, the Dyno Room was the best.

Has anyone ridden one?  That usually is a factor to liking
a bike.  Just sayin...

The Diavel? We only uncrated them, did the unveiling, and then took them to the show. no batteries in them yet, no gas in them.

oh, i assumed the diavel.

the indiana at the shop hasn't been started in ages. jordan will sit on it and wiggle the bars like he's dirt tracking and make motorcycle sounds for you if you stop by though

If you were a motorcycle magazine editor and had to pick three other bikes to do a comparison test with the new Diavel, which three would you choose?

whatever the top of the line v-rod is now, star/yamaha v-max, victory hammer/s, stretch to get to triumph rocket iii roadster, couldn't think of a bmw that is close, don't think the r1200r is very similar (is it still available even?)
Title: Re: Big November News!
Post by: Cher on November 15, 2010, 06:58:39 PM

Yeah, the Rocket III and V-Max were on my list.  V-Rod is a good one... Feel like I'm leaving one or two out tho.  The R1200C would be right on target but I think it's been gone for a year or two (it was the one that came immediately to mind when I saw the Diavel).
Title: Re: Big November News!
Post by: muskrat on November 15, 2010, 07:18:53 PM
Vmax and Vrod, hammer is a cruiser with the same displacement off all their cruisers at 106.  Rocket III is also a cruiser IMO although that thing has more torque than most diesel engines.

Are people considering the Diavel a cruiser for real?
Rake and trail an issue?

Post by: muskrat on November 15, 2010, 08:38:10 PM
doubt it.  I was corrected at the show and was told it was a "power" cruiser.  [laugh]
