Went and drove the Monster 900 out at Southwest Superbikes. It was some special edition from 2001. Tank looked like a blue bass boat with all the metal flake in it. All the plastic was removed, replaced with CF. Really good price for a very clean bike.
Took it for a spin around the warehouses out there. Loved the sound of the clutch. The exhaust was beautiful too. Didn't find it as binding as the 695. It was actually very comfy, but something wasn't right. Got it back, thanked the guys and left. On the way back to work I swung by AMS, I had to sit on the sport 1000 again. I straddled it and stood it up for a second.
Mother F**ker.
I just can't escape it. That's the bike I have to have. The monster, while a beautiful bike, isn't going to cut it. Forget the clutch. I'm at home on that sport 1000 and I gotta find one. That's all there is to it.
Sigh....the search continues. Looks like you guys are stuck with some loser hanging around that doesn't even ride a bike for at least a while longer.
I'm sure Jim'll sell you his Sport 1000 to finance his new SV650s... :P [laugh]
IP if you wanted to ride a 2001 900 you should have said something the other night at LH's. Thats what the LYD is! Keep looking and be patient the right one will come to you!!

I know, just by way of me wishing you the best with this transaction, you
should supply frosty adult beverage.
Man, with all the finder's fees I have to pay I might as well go spend 3 grand more on a new one. [roll]
Or just organize a get together to show off the new bike [thumbsup]

If you get it and host the shindig by next Wednesday I might just show with a frozen case of 24oz. Fosters "Oil Cans"
(I think our next "beer giveaway" is next Tuesday)e
That would alleviate some debt
and anxiety, simultaneously...

IP did that guy ever contact you back?
I just went to click on the listing and its gone/deleted? ???
IP let me know if you still need me to help tote it back up the WRL. I'll ride it or truck it. Preferrable ride [evil]
IP, did you buy it? I noticed it's gone off Craigslist!
This is a crazy time to shop for an SC... 3 more have popped up for sale on ducati.ms just this week. In fact, another 06 black one posted up today, and he's in Dallas. He's asking $9500 with mods.
Now I gotta wonder why mine didn't sell at $7800? I guess it was fate! If it had sold, I'd have missed the HC ride! [leo]

That would have been bad. Very, very bad.
Damn 7800. I would have bought it for that [thumbsup]
The bike is MINE!! Almost.
Haven't posted yet today because I've been doing all the paperwork nonsense, getting insurance, etc. Everything except for a copy of the title has been sent to my lending organization and that will happen tomorrow morning when the owner gets it outta his safe at home.
Beyond that, it's just a matter of making a little room in the garage and heading out there Saturday after 2 to pick 'er up.
Bryant has opted to further earn his finder's fee by driving my ass out there to get 'er. Gotta love the friend with a truck! (yes, yes, the newbie is a little scared to be riding that far on highway. Don't make fun of me. I want to be more confident on the bike before I'm scared shitless by an 18 wheeler.)
Now, onto the first two things I'd like to buy. I need opinions. I just want to be safe and keep her upright and protected from my ignorance as much as possible.
- Rear wheel stand
- Frame sliders
Ruh oh, after 2pm on Saturday is no good for me to help pick it up. Not kidding. I can probably help out after 6 or so, but no promise though. (I have to pick up a ton of bookshelves up at IKEA for the parents)
You can't go wrong with Pitbull stands,
Speedymoto sliders are pretty good as well.
IP give me a call when you get the chance
Very cool... Congrats [thumbsup]
Skip the rear wheel stand. You need helmet, jacket, pants, gloves, boots........... [thumbsup] [moto] [thumbsup] [moto] [thumbsup] [moto] [thumbsup]
Awesome IP! Can't wait to see the new ride [thumbsup]
And I agree with Scott; buy all the GOOD gear now (anybody ever tell the one about pea gravel, tweezers, and knees? :'( )
Yo, IP, what you REALLY need is someone with a lot of experience on a SC to go out with you & ride the new bike back. Much safer [thumbsup]
Just sayin' [evil]
Helmet = Check
Jacket = Check
Gloves = Check
Boots = can get by with what I have, but could use some good ones.
Argh, the money damn has burst!!

Might have to happen. If I can't find a buddy with a truck or trailer available after 2 or get this guy to let me come get it earlier, I'm gonna be riding that thing home. [moto]
I love my Sidi boots.
Don't forget earplugs... the megaphone will kill your ears otherwise

Get the wifey to take you out there and then ride it back. I'm sure a few people my make the ride out and back
I've got a truck, ramps, & Baxley Sport Chock & tie downs if that's what you really want to do.
PM Sent
Congrat's on your new ride [thumbsup]
Glad to hear you got what you wanted!

- Rear wheel stand
- Frame sliders
Ryan,
Congrats!
Rear wheel stand - Pitbull makes only one that works with the 06 SC1K. I just got one last week. Others have problems of the bike falling off. so, if you get one, look on Pitbull's site and make sure you get the one for the '06/Paul Smart.
Instead of a rear wheel stand, I highly recommend a Baxley Sport Chock instead. There are some local shops that keep them in stock (for about the same price as if you ordered them from Baxley's website). I've had one since I bought the bike. It gives me piece of mind knowing that I don't have to worry about whether I set my kickstand right. Plus, I think the bike actually takes up less room in the garage since it's not leaning over. And the ride in/out ease of the Baxley is super convenient!
Frame sliders... be sure to look at a lot of pics of SC's with them installed. They might take a little getting used to (visually). And, there's arguments on both sides of the fence on the good and bad of using frame sliders (may cause more damage than they prevent argument).
We expect pics on Saturday!
glad to hear you're on your way, man... i can't do much besides offer to ride out there with you in a cage and ride it back or drive the cage back...but i'm happy to do either, seriously.
FWIW...the cyclecat stands are pretty awesome; the only thing is you have to find them used, since they're no longer doing business.

i've heard good things about powerstands and pitbull though, too... just depends on what type of stand you want...some you'll even have to drill into your swingarm to install posts for spool type stands.

I bought mine at a Kawasaki shop in Irving off Airport Freeway, not far from Irving Mall.
"Kawasaki City"
1516 W. Irving Blvd., Irving, TX 75061

I recommend that you call ahead and make sure they have it in stock. You're looking for a "Baxley Sport Chock". Also, check their hours. I seem to recall they close around 5pm or maybe 6pm (made it hard for me to get there after work).
The Baxley website says that AMS Alverado is a dealer (don't know if they'll have them in stock), and that Cycle Center of Denton (on I35E) is also a dealer. Maybe one of those is more convenient for you.
Here's why Baxley rocks...
That is pretty freakin' cool. Might just have to pick one up.
It does seem like it would take up slightly less room. And with a one car garage, I need all the room I can get.
I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to park her when I get home. I have a gravel driveway (read= not kickstand friendly) and I have get off the bike to open a gate and the garage before I pull it in. Looks like I'll have to leave the bike all the way in the street while I open everything up. Damn old houses.
Course, my neighbor might appreciate it if I push it into the garage from there. Her bedroom is right next to the driveway. [evil]
Good thing I've never complained about her dogs barking. Now she's got no room to pregnant dog. No pun intended.
Really? the site changes B*tch to "pregnant dog"?
Wow, we're really censoring the wrong things in this society. :)
Try posting the 4-letter slang term for "intercourse"... Now that's fun ;D
heh heh
Then contemplate this thread-
