Ducati in the Rockies 2011
The Ultimate Hooligan Gathering
August 12th - 15th
Ducati in the Rockies (DitR) would like to extend an open invitation to those of you who live to ride the canyons.
For six consecutive years in early August, Ducati riders from several states have converged on a small town in SW Colorado. Sure, there are many reasons to visit the “Switzerland of Americaâ€: the quaint historic town, the breathtaking terrain and the amazing hot springs. We go there for the twisties.
DitR started in 2005 and has always been held in Ouray, Colorado. It was designed to be a grassroots event, so that Colorado Ducati enthusiasts can get together with other Ducatistas from around the country and ride incredible roads in some of the greatest scenery this country has to offer.
Since it’s inception DitR has seen riders from almost every US state. It has even attracted the attention of Ducati Italy. Ouray sits on the edge of the San Juan National Forest. People who have been to both areas say its terrain reminds them of the canyons and curvy roads near Bologna, Italy, the birthplace of Ducati.
Most of us use the Friday to travel to Ouray and gather for an early evening welcome party. We then ride the canyons and mountain passes on Saturday and Sunday, averaging 300 to 500 miles a day. On Monday we say goodbye to old friends and new - and ride the long way home.
Through DitR, lodging discounts at a local hotel are available, along with suggested ride maps for those who are not familiar with the area. Also we will be hosting a group beer tasting and BBQ at a local brewery.
Please join us for Ducati in the Rockies, August 12th -15th, 2011. Visit our FaceBook Events Page to RSVP or PM me with any questions you may have.
We look forward to riding with you.

Your biggest issue will either be intimidation by other riders (But if you ride within your own limits, that goes away...), or your biggest issue will be looking at the scenery and NOT at the road. It's *frickin'* beee-yo-ti-ful up dere...
W :o W!!!

Already "IN" 'd in another thread, but I figgered I'd subscribe to this one, too, to keep aboob of the situation.

Past experience has shown that there is a wide variety of riding styles from balls out to casual weekend outing represented by the group. Just relax, breathe, and enjoy yourself. No one will get on you for being slow.
ALSO:
I'm gonna put down a big MAYBEE. Have to see what the schedule is gonna be like for me.
I'm seriously considering it. It depends on track days and funds depleted from said track days and upgrading suspension.
Anyone want to form a mid-coast caravan out there? Riding alone can be boring :)

It's not a track day... but you will get as many or more turns in. Plus, the scenery is better. Also, spakin's!
No no, I know it's just a good time with lots of riding. The plan is to go with some of the local guys down to Oklahoma for a couple of track days. I just have to divide up vacation time and funds :)
Seeya with some of New England's finest ... Granted, they'll be on my bikes, so not sure if any of us will be on Ducatis or not ... ;)
Cheers,
Adam

There will be a lot of us leaving from Denver on Friday morning. Last year we took Deckers to Woodland Park and then east on 24. If you can make it, maybe we can meet up in Woodland Park. We can talk about it again once it gets closer to August.
With baby on the way in July, looks like I'll be missing another DiTR and all the holligan fun.
I'm trying to convince some schmucks from round these parts to join me, but I don't think everyone is excited about riding through Kansas (the long way) as I am :).
I'll probably make it a two day trip and stay with some long lost friends in Denver. How long does this shindig usually last?
Meet and greet Friday night. Ride Saturday. Party Saturday night. Ride Sunday. Sleep Sunday night (or not, at your discretion). Leave Monday.
Woot!
Vacation time approved, Hotel reservations made, providing there are no major disasters, will be riding out on Fri. the 12th. Hope to have a good turnout this year, and We'll see You there....If not sooner [thumbsup]
I'm out. :'(
Visited our tax consultant last night and we owe a whole pile of dosh to The Man. We knew we were going to take a big hit and had set monies aside, but ti turned out to be a lot worse than expected. [puke]
No vacations for us this year.
That sucks, man. Hope things cheer up and you manage to make it! On the bright side, there's always that spare kidney :)
You guys have to convince El Mat to finish our Epic Loop at DITR - he wants to start too early - no bueno.

I was reading Hell For Leather yesterday (seriously great site, btw) and they had an article that started off like this. "I know Ducati owners have a reputation of being a bunch of rich a$$holes who ride their over-priced Italian bikes to a coffee shop on Sundays so they can hang out with other Ducati owners who are also wearing Puma track suits and talk about how cool they all are, but let me introduce you to....". Well HFL, let me introduce you to "Ducati in the Rockies" where Ducatis are ridden, and ridden HARD! A Ducati event, put on by Ducati rides and people passionate about the brand. Sorry, but there are no coffee shops at the top of Red Mountain Pass! Feel free to leave you Puma track suits at home!!!
DitR Official Signature Cocktail
Though a close personal friend and Aprilia rider (don’t hold that against him) we were able to get world renowned Mixologist Charlotte Voisey to personally design Ducati in the Rockies it’s own signature cocktail. The DitR Italian Margarita. It is made with Solerno, a Sicilian Blood Orange Liqueur made in Italy and it is amazing.

DitR 2011 Hotel Room Update:
Today is the “drop-dead-date†for the reserved room at the Best Western Twin Peaks in Ouray, CO. I am happy to say that we have filled every reserved hotel room and one condo. The only accommodation left at the BWTP is one 3 bdrm/ 2 bath condo that will sleep up to six people. They will hold this condo today only. You will need to call them directly and say that you are with “Ducati in the Rockies†to get their discounted rate, if you want this room.
There are plenty of places to stay in Ouray and I am sure that if you decide to come last minute something can be worked out. If you need additional information, please let me know.

Ducati in the Rockies is one month away and we can’t wait to ride with you.

A Review of Ducati in the Rockies 2011
2011 was a great year for Ducati in the Rockies (DitR). Attendance was up and we saw several new faces among our old friends. We had approximately 70 people from seven states. The food at the Saturday BBQ was a huge hit, as were the Italian Margaritas served at the Best Western’s Tiki Bar. Both of these will be back next year along with some new ideas we are already working on.
Next year’s Ducati In The Rockies will be August 10th - 13th.
We’re already planning to make next year’s event even better. DitR has a new website with more photos, more detailed ride maps and the latest event information. Be sure to check out the new 10 minute ride video on YouTube showing a quick run to the top of Red Mountain Pass (Million Dollar Highway). We also have a new FaceBook page that will better serve our event.
Please contact us and let us know if you have any questions or comments.
