The contour has been around for a while and believe the gps model became available not too long ago. I work with every type of helmet cam putting them on test vehicles and the main advantage of the contour is that it works easier as a helmet cam. The gopro is more awkward on the head and has a more sophisticated start up sequence. The contour you just flip a switch so it is perfect for giving it to someone who is unfamiliar with operating. In my opinion its also a safety issue as I am constantly checking the gopro while the contour is more set and forget. A situation like that is especially dangerous when you are using it on a moto.
