Title: Hello. Newby from Redding, CA. Land of the fruits and nuts.
Post by: dan miller on January 27, 2011, 06:57:17 PM
Hello everyone.

Dan Miller here. Retired, 67 years old.  Been riding bikes for about 50 years - a number of Harley's and Indians, several Triumph's (late 60's - early 70's), a Norton Commando, a Yamaha FJ, etc.

Just scored a 2000 Monster 900 from a friend that purchased it new, and rode it a total of 4100 miles.  Installed a gel battery, changed the oil, and have been riding it (easily).  Purchased a set of belts, and have tires (Pirelli Angel's) on the way.

What a nifty bike!  Very comfortable (I'm 6', 215 pounds), and I believe that it's going to make a good all purpose bike.

I'm having difficulty coming to grips with the front brake.  Way more powerful than I'm used to.  It took a couple of days (300 miles) to get comfortable with the handling (a bit "quicker" than I'm used to), but I'm getting to where I can place it anywhere I want on the road.

Can't see out of the mirrors very well, have some CRG Bar End mirrors on order.

Lots of interesting bikes and people on this forum.  I'm looking forward to joining in.

Thanks, Danny
