Title: cleaner, whiter sheets
Post by: enzo on February 03, 2011, 12:19:20 PM
Looks like Zeitgeist is getting a facelift.

http://sfist.com/2011/02/02/behold_the_new_zeitgeist.php?gallery0Pic=3#gallery (http://sfist.com/2011/02/02/behold_the_new_zeitgeist.php?gallery0Pic=3#gallery)

This could be a good moment to shift our monthly meets to Ace.  I know, I know, blasphemy, but let's admit it, Ace is better.  Plus, if Zeitgeist gets all cleaned up, it won't reflect how gritty and badass we are.

I'm all for moving it to Ace...the walk to Zeitgeist is unbearable :)

We're always outside anyways.  Or were you planning a little tryst with Spidey again and that piqued your interest in the sheets?

Best comment I've read about the remodel so far:

"perfect! can i buy an over-priced loft nearby?"

Ace please.

Any bar with Anchor Steam on tap is fine with me.

But does Ace have the Tamale Lady?  I promised her I wouldn't cheat.

(also, Zeitgeist has Bundaberg ginger beer, the best drink hands down to come out of Oz.  puts that piss-in-a-can VB or Fosters to shame.  but i'm probably alone on this one)

I think we should wait until we see the "improved" z before we pass judgement.

Honestly, I prefer the burgers at Z, but it's been a while since I was at Ace...

Zeitgeist...Facelift? Why bother! ...maybe paint the potties pink, otherwise keep it grungy [drool]

Ace is good. I'm an official qualifier. Love the place.

Hey.  I'll pass judgment whenever on whatever I choose.  And the best passing of judgment is the uninformed passing of judgment.  Ask me anything to pass judgment on...the less I know about it, and the quicker I make a call on it, the better.  Perhaps this is why I'm on BARF so much.

Since I've never been to aces, and the wife isn't overly impressed with the Geist, why not have the Feb night at aces?

And this thread shall be known as the Infamous Bar Schism of 2011....

The essence of our meets are tables, chairs, beer and us....and mocking Tigre.  Everything else beyond that is just meaningless fluff.  ...and speaking of fluff, the frequent Tigre-as-fluffer joke.  OK, now everything else beyond that is fluff.

You must be sportin' a big brass pair to waltz in here asking for the meet location to be changed when you can't even be bothered to come back state-side.   [puke]

I don't dis Ace, but we've met at Ace a couple times and we keep going back to ZG.
+1 ZG has better food for less money and has an outside under trees.
I like outside under trees.
I like tamale lady.

Outside under trees is nice, and the occasional rat makes things more interesting. It reminds me of Big Daddy's (http://www.bestofneworleans.com/gambit/gone-daddy-gone-the-end-of-big-daddys/Content?oid=1255487) Do they have Rats at Ace?

I thought we decided our mascot should be a dildocorn?

Still, I digress.

I think we need to give the "new unproved" Z a chance before we ditch it for the "new hotness" (or maybe "less-old lukewarmness") of Ace.

We can ditch Zeitgeist if they get rid of the tigerbike on the wall.

Retrofit the same old thing you currently have
or
Swap to something newer, fresher and different

Men have been asking themselves this question since the dawn of man kind.... or at least until plastic surgery was invented.

Zeitgeist has Sutter Home red in airplane bottles. Ace has a freaking selection of wine. Zeitgeist FTW.  [wine]

Ace serves only wine and beer, right?  I mean...doesn't matter to me most of the time because I never drink anymore when we meet up, but I would like the option to get 'faced once in a while and I won't be doing that on a few glasses of wine.

I do like Ace more (and go there when I'm looking for a biker bar), but I'm kinda wedded to the tradition of meeting at Zeitgeist.  Besides, Zeitgeist is way better for those random weird encounters that make for awesome stories.

Remember the trannie who wanted some of Tigre?  What about the tattooed, nude model from the other meet?  Or the time we were all obliterated (with out of town guest who'd only heard of Zeitgeist) and two dozen people came in wearing furry costumes and started doing shots?  What about the time Derby got kicked out for ordering a hamburger?   Or the multiple times that then-DMLers got hammered and then had sex on the floor (sometimes with an air mattress, sometimes without) of my then-apartment?  Or the time I rode 'belle's bike a block up the sidewalk to my garage cuz she was too hammered to walk straight, to say nothing of ride?  Or the time 'belle drank all the "found beer" in the joint?

I could go on (and I'm sure I'm missing a buncha gems that aren't immediately coming to mind), but that's why I have an affinity for the 'geist.

But for a small corkage fee you can bring your own bottle, furry, doobie, homebrew, or trany.

I've only paid a fee to cork a tranny. Never to uncork one.  I think I'm gonna need a diagram to figure out how that works.

Typical.   [roll]  Immigrants trying to take away American jobs.  If I want to cork a tranny, I'll go to Polk Street and get one from the good ole US of A.   Gawdammit.

You should try the imports, cheaper, more efficient, long term reliability.
