Hey everyone,
I have been tasked with the rather daunting assignment of assessing the current market/resale value of a 3 year old (nearly new) SonoSite Titan ultrasound machine that's been used only 1 time. I was wondering if anyone on the forum is familiar with a method of accomplishing this task short of using Google to see the price at which they are currently selling (which I've already done with little to no success).

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
MD.
I found between $7k for used and $16k for refurbished.

Back on topic - Thanks for the links - good finds. I've no experience with selling something like this. I know that my office paid upwards of 20k for it to start, but that it's depreciated some since then.
Are there places that buy used medical equipment?
Yes, but ebay may be a better choice. I would set my reserve on that piece for $14k and see what happened. Doesn't sell? Try $10k.
Here is one in the UK ebay listings

I'm not sure that my office manager would go for using Ebay to sell it. But, the link above is exactly what we have. [thumbsup]
It looks like 10-12k is the most we could get for it.
Can you donate it to be set on fire at the next DIMBY?

tsk tsk, not a team player
Don't forget that some medical equipment requires a license to sell and a license or prescription to buy.

Thanks for pointing that out. Fortunately such is not the case with this particular item - man would that have complicated things!!

It won't be set on fire, but if donation becomes an option, look at these guys:

I work for a major medical device manufacturer. I was actually going to tell you to check with the FDA before you sell it, but it looks like you have that under control.
When I get back to work on mon I'll ask our resell group how they get their prices.

Hey thanks. I appreciate that. I'm going to double check on the licensing issue today just to be extra sure. Fortunately, I'm not the one directly tasked to sell it - that responsibility will fall to my supervisor - however, it's my task to learn how much it's actually worth and how much we can reasonably expect to sell it for.
The lady who handles our resales finally sent me a list of brokers that we use. Send me an e-mail address and I'll fwd it to you.
Open your own backoffice medical/obstetrics clinic, behind your office in a van, and give your own ultrasounds. You'll get rich, and maybe get some on the side.
Sorry, sometimes I just think like that.
