It is horrible, I said to my wife the people look like they are dazed as 9/11 victims were.
Really scary looking footage from the crews on the ground.

The next two days are critical if they are to rescue as many people as they can, after that sadly, its just recovery.

God speed to all our rescue teams

Brendan (me) is fine in Christchurch.  My parents are both fine and our houses are great....no damage on the west side of the city where my parents and I live.  The rest of the city center and out east and north east are pretty screwed.  Out at Sumner a few deaths from falling rock etc.

The S4R stayed upright in the garage where I last parked it.  I was over in Banks Peninsula (Akaroa) when it hit.  I had no radio, a shit cel phone that doesn't work very well in the Akaroa area anyway and a under powered truck with stiff suspension.  The truck rocked like hell and I heard screems from a day care center.  All was ok over there but a few hours later I managed to get radio coverage again and heard that chch was f..ked.  Didn't get home until 7 to find that the cat was ok and waiting for me outside.  All good.  Here is a link to some of the damage....
