Title: Diavel at Frasers
Post by: mattyvas on February 26, 2011, 12:29:25 AM
I heard the Diavel was finally at Frasers so as I was out that way this morning I thought I pop in for a sticky beak.
Who did I happen to see there sizing it up knowing he has a Hardly to sell shortly.
Not my usual snaps as I just had the trusty iphone with me.

I have to say it is not that bad in real life but hell it's wide and feels like a space ship when sitting on it.
Can't say it feels like a bike that you'd really want to lean all that much, you could certainly eat up some k's riding it.
I wonder what the wind blast would be like on it though?

No fancy rear guard thingy then?

First glance at that number plate I thought it was Brian's [laugh]

Well I could see why they would not allow the side mounted plate (accessory with the Diavel) as the rear wheel would obscure the plate from a certain roadside camera angle - they probably justified this by saying not ADR compliant and that a pedestrian might get killed with the standard Diavel mounts......but that is just the cynic in me!

I'm not sure if the rear has the same guard thing that comes on the Multi.
A stock bike is about 23-24 I'd think.

I think all cruisers are ugly, I just hate the "FATNESS" of them. So despite being a ducati,
its a cruiser  =  its ugly.

There was a Carbon one down at the Supers, I have to say I am impressed... I was not a fan looking at the photos but in real life I like it. It looks Tuff, I love the rear wheel. If I was looking at buying a cruiser I would be very very tempted.

450 Lbs, 0 to 60 in 2.6 and a 40 degree lean angle. How is this bike a cruiser??
Title: Re: Diavel at Frasers
Post by: craigo on March 01, 2011, 11:17:21 PM
Apply the Duck Test (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duck_test)..

If it looks like a cruiser and sounds like a cruiser and you sit on it like a cruiser, and it's clearly targeted at the cruiser market - it's most likely a cruiser.  [evil]

psst.. FYI we use the *metric* system in these parts.  [thumbsup] Your imperial measures confuse antipodeans aged under 40.

For those with a spare 20minutes. I wouldn't knock back a test ride at the next turismo if it's there. And have to agree with Triclore, it looks much better in the flesh, just as I have found with most Ducati releases, eg Streetfighter.

Sorry I forgot I was in the Oz forum. I am in Canada where we also speak French AND Metric!! It will be fun when these bikes make it to the road and a new "cruiser" is leavin 'em in the dust. Even the Duc test riders are loving the way this machine handles, accelerates etc. It may be the best all around performing Ducati builds today. I own a cruiser as well and the Diavel is NOTHING like it. It is a new category all by itself and it looks way better in person if you haven't seen it.

Maybe they should call it a Bruiser© - I watched that vid and that dude is carving some awesome road up on that Diavel. I will have to take peoples word for it that is looks better IRL.  ;D

Although apparently the Diavel is not cramped ... I would have though the respective seat heights would have been enough to keep you two in the Stroodle camp (as I recall Goldie sitting on Jukie's lowered 620 [laugh]).

I was just trying to be nice to Brian since he is so enamored with the thing.

They are both fugly bikes that only an owner or an enthusiast could love mate - but I'd take a pike's peak styled 1200S multi over teh bruiser anyday.

Well Teff may indeed like the new Bruiser, but if you have a look at history in bikes you may understand his problem, did I say problem? I meant addiction, no wait, er... his er... affliction I think  ;D

+1.

I love my Duc but I would go to Ducati for a cruiser about as quickly as I would go to Harley Davidson for a race bike.
Prejudiced?  Yeah, probably but some things are just wrong.

they finally got one over here in Perth. Had a look yesterday... I gotta say, it didn't really grab hold of me, but its not as bad in the flesh!

I wonder where they'll put the numberplate now that the bracket hugging the back wheel didn't get compliance??

They just got one in today at Causeway Ducati in Vic Park Perth.
I was in there with my Husband when they wheeled it of the truck.
I personally didn't like it so much but he loved it.
Had a sit on it and it wasn't as heavy as i thought it would have been and like you said monsta it definately looks better in in the flesh.

Well we just arrived home after a 60 hour round trip to Brissie [bang] :'(

On the way home we stopped off at our favourite Mid Coast Bike Shop ... they had a couple of new arrivals mid-week.

We were offered a test ride but we had no time or gear ... one was headed out for a test ride as we arrived (sounds alright stock).

The first one they sold was to a petite female ... her other bike (for now at least) is a Monster apparently. You read it here first ... the Diavel is a chick's bike ... comfy and light enough for little people.

Yeah I think the road trip affected your usual writing tone,i read it pretty much the same way except we know Trevor would never be sold or traded in for another.
I can see the attraction of the bike, i was talking to a few guys at the track about it last week. They all agree that it looks pretty good for a Ducati-Davidson....

Were Harley's mentioned in this thread somewhere ? Ok,  I just wanted an excuse to post this .

QuoteIf you are looking for a chrome plated sub-tech slow no stopping lousy cornering oil leaking louder than Crackatoa motorcycle with black and white tv era technology that you can pay too much for then this bike is for you. This bike will make up for your tiny manhood and eggshell ego and is perfect for that fat-ass tits on the ground tattooed smelly bovine nearly toothless "old lady" you lug around with you every where you go just so you don't have to kiss her goodbye. Now you can show up at biker events and mingle with other beer-aholic losers who play dress up with the black outfits and stupid vests covered in dumb slogan patches and cheesy trinket buttons and pretend like you're a "son of anarchy." This bike has enough chrome on it to blind you on a sunny day and enough money invested in it to keep my kids from having descent shoes or dental care. Why should they be different from Mom and Dad...right? If you buy it this week I'll throw in every other dumb thing I've bought just because it says "Harley" on it. Once you throw a leg over this beauty you can run that movie in your head where you're the big hero and chicks flock around you like flies. Actually those are flies, but your friends will tell you how "bad to the bone" you look and make you feel special and that alone is priceless in a world where you can get a personality from a dealership. So don't wait. Bust out that wallet tethered to you with a dog chain and plop down your kids college tuition and you can fantasize about being a man. This is your chance.

Red diavel.....at EC yesterday ..........not about to comment on the looks but i can vouch for its acceleration .....it was v.quick on acceleration......quicker than an 848...............looked solid in the corners but its not a sports bike hahaha......i saw enough that i reckon in the right hands it would be a ripper................that is a huge rear to get from one side to the other
