Title: Pricing Help - 2007 S4R
Post by: BretMorris on March 09, 2011, 02:46:31 PM
Hi all,

I know this subject has been done to death quite a few times as there are too many variable to get a specific price etc.  I also know the value or price for a particular bike is exactly what someone is prepared to pay for it.

However, I would appreciate the view of forum members about the potential price bracket I  might be able to expect for my 2007 S4R Monster.

It has just ticked over 10,000Kms and is perfect condition.  Has heaps of accessories, ie full Termignoni System, ECU, Airbox, Rizoma Grips, Rizoma Mirrors, Pazzo levers, Open clutch cover, performance pressure plate.  Has unique colour matched front fender and beer tray...

I know that all of these accessories / upgrades while costing me a fortune are probably worth about $1.50 on the resale value of the bike.

Anyway what would you think a reasonable starting price on bikesale might be???

Cheers

Bret

Hey Brett,

    Shame you are selling.
I'd say ball park could be 14-16k, being that the first service is coming up which is worth anywhere from $800-$1200 depending on the shop it goes too.
My take on selling a bike with bling it ask what you'd like for the bike and half or there abouts of what you paid for the bling.
Obviously the biggest cost is the exhaust/ecu/airbox the rest is just pretty jewelery as you've said.

Hope you get a quick sale.

are you looking to upgrade Bret?

Does "Redbook" give you any indication of price range.

I'd personally say about 13500 to 15000 or so.

good luck with the sale.

I was waiting to look at the Diavel to see if that might be next bike but I must say I am not sure I like it...so have been decided to move to a BMW K1300R.  I have looked at the Streetfighter as well but really want something that is a little better for longer rides.  Anyway I suppose it all depends on the deal I can come up with on the BMW.

Bret,

If you are trading the bike in take all your aftermarket bling off the bike and return it to stock, the closer to stock the better and sell off your aftermarket bits, infact that would be a better way to sell privately as well.

Everyone at some stage will want to modify their bike, but everyone has a slightly different way of doing things so what you have on the bike may not please a prospective new owner.

Sorry to hear that you are selling the Monster, hey hears an idea, keep the bike and buy a early model GoldWing, suit those longer rides nicely, I hear that its a popular option.

Mmick,

I cant believe I am going to tell the forum this but I bought myself a new XR1200X Harley Davidson as a Xmas pressie and I love it around town.  Does nothing very well but it is super fun to ride, heavy and lazy but buckets of torque and a great sound (once you replace the standard pipes).  Not quite ready for the large fairing touring bike just yet...

can't believe how flat the 2nd hand market is. lots of monsters for sale, very little moving.
this is the same across most brands.
