Title: Helmet Speakers
Post by: He Man on March 14, 2011, 11:29:09 PM
Iasus XSJ and XS2 are the ones that are in my price range. I dont like earbuds like shure. they are too big and easily gets caught. I also ride with earplugs everywhere i go, so they ahve to be loud enough to get pass the earplug and 80mph of winds.

Any suggestions?

i know you said you didnt like earbuds, but you might want to take a look at these ear bud foam tips:

http://www.complyfoam.com/ (http://www.complyfoam.com/)

cheaper than getting in ear speakers if you already have ear buds, and they are pretty comfy... and pretty much act like ear plugs that pipe music.  i use them on long flights, esp when there are any kids screaming/crying.

i havent tried them on my bike yet, i normally dont listen to music while riding but it might be a good cheap median choice for you.

i have stock pipes. most of the noise is going to be from wind buffeting so it aint going to be that bad. thanks for the link,

ill check them out. radioshack retails them! so i cansee which one fits!

i bought them. they make the beast with two backsing suck. they do not stay in the ear as they claim. they are horrifyingly uncomfortable. the silicone ones cancel out more noise.

I did this, they work pretty good.  Bonus, if they don't block enough noise on the bike, you still can use them when you're not riding.

I bought a set of Comply tips this week as well. They don't want to seal in my ears very well and made the music practically inaudible. Might as well have wiped my ass with $15, would have been more useful. That said, I also got a set of Skullcandy Asym's, which are made to go under helmets. They aren't the best sounding buds ever, but they sound good enough and work great with the helmet. Haven't tried them on the bike yet, it's been raining for an eternity. Maybe tomorrow on the way to work.

I have a set of Skull Candy Asym earbuds I bought a couple years ago that I love.

http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/asym-white.html (http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/asym-white.html)

They come with multiple tips so you can mix and match to find the ones you like and are designed to fit under helmets. Mine stayed put in a minor lowside, so I'll attest to how well they stay put!

Before I got my comm system, I had a pair from Sony... extra bass, I think. For me, they worked great. Fit inside the helmet, stayed put, great sound. But ear fittment is so damn subjective, as not all ears are the same. Like the Skull Candy and Asym units, they came with different size silicone tips. I had to be careful to not lose them, as sometimes they'd come off the earphone when in storage (pocket, ususally).
