Title: Termi's going on today
Post by: Sundog on April 28, 2011, 06:33:46 PM
My M1100 goes in for it's 1000k bolt-tightner today and I'm getting the full termi kit installed, with the new ECU and high-flow air filter.

I've asked Ducati City to dyno the stock cans before mapping the bike with the Termi's, so I can gauge the delta on performance. I will put up the dyno sheets tonight once I get them back if anyone's interested.

BTW, over the weekend I made a clanger and put E10 95 RON fuel in the tank when I wasn't paying attention at the pump, thinking it was straight 95. To make it short, I had to drain the tank when I got home, it was not a good experience. So the next day I put in 98RON and started to get stalling at the lights and lumpiness at low speed, I've not investigated why as yet. I've gone back to Caltex 95 Vortex and it's been so much better. Funny how fuels ain't fuels (to paraphrase an old TV Ad).

Here's the dyno chart:

A small gain in HP, about 3.5Nm extra but the power curve is different. Taken on 98RON at about 22C.

All up not a huge change from the kit but I never really thought it would make an earth-shattering difference. I just did it for the noise, to isolate the exhaust servo and get a better map in it. The new map is much nicer, smoother on uptake, more forgiving at low revs and the changing down carries further.

I love my termis!  I have heard QuatD, Arrow, Staintune, Zard etc etc all great pipes but at the end of the day the termi just has something about it, irrespective of the power gain.  Loud pipes save lives!  [thumbsup]

Yeah that is true Mick, it's less of a head-snapping kick in the pants then it used to be and more of a predictable climb to the "uh oh" moment when you look down at the speedo, which seems to arrive very quickly now I might add.

I have also had to start using my ear-molds again, after not needing them when riding with the sedate stock cans. After 30m of the Termi's I can barely hear anything of consequence.
