CRAP, i just rode into my garage door.
Well kinda. Someone left the garage door 2/3 of the way open and let a little 16 month old run over to me as i pulled into the driveway. Needless to say, my attention was diverted downwards as I slowly creeped the bike into the garage at about 1-2mph. Then WAM! [bang] Left a nice scrape mark along the top of my helmet.
Since my head was tilted down, my neck didnt snap back so no whiplash. Also, i hit the rubber-seal bumper at the bottom of the door, which gave way, so I didnt fall of my bike either. But this is my 2 month old arai quantum II!!! :'(
How long is the scuff and is it a solid or graphic Quantum 2 ? I have a scuffed RF-1000 Shoei Monza Red and I just put a Red Dainese V decal over it so it's hidden.
Go ahead and put some cool stickers over it and call it a day ;).
It could have been much worst.
regards
Its a graphic helmet, and the scuff is between the two vents smack down the middle to the top. A suction-cupped mohawk would fit right over it. >:( I guess i'll just live with it... if anything, it adds character to my helmet.
It's somrthing that only you will know it's there while you're riding. As time goes by it won't hurt much. Wax it real good and some of it may shine up or some of the scuff may come off. Use a paste hard wax with carnuba wax .
Thanks for the advice... and yea, now that a couple hours have passed, it seems kinda trivial to post a rant about my helmet being scuffed. Haha. I always wipe down my bike and gear after a ride, the helmet i clean meticulously with auto-window wipes. So something stupid like this happening just gets me >:(.
I'm over it now.
Ouch, I bought a Quantum 2 a couple months ago as well. Best fit I found after stuffing my head in countless helmets. Maybe a pinup sticker or something humorous to hide the scuff? Maybe "Open other end" "Max Headroom" "Did someone say Duck?"
Sucks to get scuffs in something you meticulously care for. I guess we all just have to consider them character marks.
I would put a helmet hawk on it ;D
small DMF sticker.
wait....
don't have those yet....
my bad...
Is it through the clearcoat? If not, see if it will just buff out...
