I use Photobucket. It's free. Just sign up, upload, and click on the "direct link" box for the photo, and paste it into the text box of one of these threads.
To paste it in, be sure to click on the "Insert Image" button above the text box first, and then hit "Ctrl V". The link will automatically paste within the html tags.

Nice pics Damien! The ZX10 does look better without radiator puke on the lower fairing! [thumbsup] Those Cox guards are nice, I still need to order some for my water buffalos. Filled out an order online before our vacation but deleted it because I didn't want to have them delivered while we were gone. Seeing your ZX10 pics reminded me to order them again. What kind of new suit did you get? I too hope it doesn't rain this weekend, I was looking forward to getting out on two wheels and having it not be 105! Problem is in TX if it's August and it's not 100+ then the reason is rain or a hurricane on the gulf coast causing rain and other problems. :P Have fun at Eagles Canyon, I going with positive waves and weather God sacrifices to have lower temps, cloudy skies and no rain! Very nice!! Really like that simple white+decals look, very sano and different. I like the AMS special white Hypermotard they did for the same reasons. I have always liked Ducati's mentality of monochromatic paint jobs, except for the special tri colore models. Which makes them all the more special. Love my rice burners but sometimes they go way the hell over the top with graphics and color mixes. The ones I own are about all I can stand. Although the Kawis do a very nice job of keeping it simple. Again, looks super good all put together!! [thumbsup] Too damn bad it's raining all weekend (and beyond!) to get much riding in. Since when did it rain this much in North TX in the middle of August?? >:(

DFWM Hooligans ROCK!!!
Very cool! I know about that traffic thing. It can be a real pain in the @ss when you are trying to learn - it's like - do I put my legs up or down, legs down touching, now they're not touching, now they're up, now they're down, left leg up, right leg down, right leg up, left leg down, sticking out, now on the rear sets - I don't know what the hell to do with my legs!!!!!......does everyone notice this too????? Yeah, they prob do, but it's cool cause at least I'm trying, right? Anyway, go to an empty parking lot and stop and go a bunch of times and do figure 8's and circles because those tight, slow U-turns can be fun at first too! I don't know... those are some things that helped me when I started.
I'm really glad you are riding and I look forward to riding with you guys soon!!! ;D [moto]
Yep, I vividly remember learning to ride (since it was only a few years ago!) The good news is that after a few thousand miles of being totally self-conscious on my bike, I don't even think about it anymore. Which may be good and bad - good in that I feel like I enjoy myself more when I ride but bad in that I feel like sometimes I get surprised by a situation in traffic or by road conditions. Must be complacency I guess.
One thing I liked to do when I started riding was to pick just one thing that I wanted to concentrate on on that particular ride, like always looking where I wanted to go, or keeping my eyes and head up when coming to a stop. I still do it to some degree - I like practicing automatic-transmission-smooth up and down shifts - "rev matching"... whatever [roll]
I also had a very specific 20 - 60 mile loop that I tried to ride every chance I got (I could drop Sam off at school in the morning, be on my bike by 9:30 once the morning rush hour had died down, and then be home before lunch). The route started out as being just through my rural neighborhood; 30 mph posted speeds - I think I rode for nearly a month before I wanted to tackle a "major" street. Practiced a lot of starting and stopping... And yes, I of course dropped my bike on my second ride. Dropped it in a gas station near my house... in front of god and everybody [roll].
Holy cow, that's a lot of info you didn't ask for... sorry for that.
Anyway, here's to many, many more miles of smiles on our rides, ladies [thumbsup]

No apology needed when sharing moto info...I am trying to soak up as much info and experience as I can. I also have a loop I like to make over and over just trying to get better each time I make it. I am looking forward to the kids going to school so I can ride my bike to school and get at least 5 days a week on it. I have ridden so many different bikes this year(7) I am also looking forward to just focusing on a few so I can really try and improve my skill level. Same for me, trying to gain experience. I also have a favorite loop I like to ride as often as possible, try to get better each time... I call it, "MotorSport Ranch".
Lisa,
That's really good advice. Having a safe, comfortable loop to ride over and over again is an excellent idea. Even if the speed limit is 30-40mph, who cares. Those basic skills are challenging to learn and the safer a place is to learn them the better. You do want to live and grow old right? Then do not mix it up with high speed traffic until you are ready. Don't pull some macho, dumba@@ high school stunt and get over your head too fast. If you don't get hurt you will scare yourself so bad you will never want to ride again. I'm sure you don't want either.
Don't mean to sound like Officer Friendly or a buzzkill but it's extremely dangerous out on the streets... and that's not even counting all the dumba@@ drivers! Think about how many incredibly stupid drivers you see every single day. Maybe in the hundreds? Great, now put yourself in their way with no steel cage around you and only a helmet, gloves, jacket and your common sense and skills to combat them. Scares me everyday for the last 43 years.
Not to mention turkeys!

We designed the stripes, but we had Fast Signs print up the decal. However, I would not use them again, and certainly will not recommend Fast Signs to anyone to do their decals.
The logos we bought off eBay.
We installed the stripes and decals ourselves.

redulator, how do you like the chips in the floor? I'm gonna paint my floor white, but I don't want the chips because although they look really good, I want to be able to find dropped fasteners and stuff easily...
Quote from: REDULATOR on October 09, 2008, 07:51:41 AM
First off dude, I wouldn't want to drop a drop of oil or fluid on that fine floor in the first place. That is one classy application. That said, I do know what you're talking about when you want find stuff. I've found that if I know where I droped the item or the general vacinity I use either a strip magnet or any magnet to brush across the surface until it picks up. If it's not metallic or you didn't find the first try a broom or vac is good for that. But to re-paint such a fine piece of work would have to bear a second thought for the reason stated. It's just my opinion is all of course.
I'm planning on putting that same paint scheme down on my garage this year sometime. [thumbsup]
ah, that's what I was thinking. I'm buying a new home so I'm trying to decide what to do with the garage, so luckily, no repainting here. Just trying to figure out what I want to do with my own space [thumbsup] Thanks for the info! I like the idea of white too because it'll help reflect extra light up while I work on stuff. REALLY looking forward to a fully functioning garagespace [drink]
Not to threadjack too severely but before Jen and I moved into our house I had the garage floor painted with that epoxy floor paint. A nice light gray color. The guy that painted it did an awesome job. He really took time to prep it right since it wasn't a new home. It was built in 1969. He did an acid bath on it to clean it and painstakingly hand patched every single crack and chip. I had six 8 foot double bulb, high intensity light fixtures installed too. Let's just say there are no shadows anywhere in my garage!! Looked fabulous!
Now, the part that sucks! The summer of 2006 was a bad drought year if you remember. It never rained and was hot as hell. I had over 300 feet of soaker hose around the foundation of the house and ran them a lot! But every damn crack in the garage floor that was patched returned with a vengance!!! And you guessed it, cracked the painted floor big time! >:( There are "rivers" of cracked paint all over the floor. It's not the painters fault, he did a great job. And by '06 my garage was totally full of garage s#@t so taking it all the way back to empty and starting over was not an option. Really sucks. Wish I had done stain instead of paint. The cracks wouldn't be so awful and obvious on a stained floor.
Just my two cents.

It's actually my floor ;D the chips are no big deal for finding stuff on, and really help hide the typical floor imperfections (cracks, low spots etc). If I had to do it again though, I would probably race deck tile the floor (or something similar). The paint is too nice for a working floor, and I feel like I'm tearing it up swinging jacks and stands on it.
I actually picked up some rubber coin tiles from Lowes's last winter when planning to do some heavy work on the race car, and it worked great.

Okay, so I've been doing some minor tinkering and modification to my two girls.
One day I was almost run over while riding the Francesca, the Monster. Hit the horn button but nothing. That is, nothing reaching even MY ears. The horn was operational, just anemic in a sonic sense of the word.
So I picked up some Fiamm knock-offs at the Auto Zone. They were glossy black on one side and glossy red on the other. So I hit 'em with a few coats of VHT flat black. Much better.
Not much real estate left on a S4RS for mounting, but I did the best I could. Put the relay and fuse under the left side panel.
Also popped some coin for a Zero Gravity Dark Smoke windscreen.
Consuelo didn't escape attention either.
The H-D folks in Texas really screwed up my front brakes and handling. So I rebuilt the calipers and threw on some new rotors and pads. While I was at it I finally installed some rubber fork seal gators for the old school look and the real world bene of protecting the fork seals from dust, rocks, etc.
Also, finally mocked up the drag bars for the H-D: K&N bars, Rizoma Reverse Retro Bar End Mirrors, and some vintage BMW bar end signals with red lenses in the rear. I've got the Badlands Illuminator Pro module, so I can remove the front signal wiring altogether, and run the rear signal wires to the bar ends. The Badlands module turns the signals into run, brake, and turn signals.

The garage here at the apartments is coming along nicely. Picked up a peg board for 5 bucks and hung up some of my hand tools. The tool box was getting over loaded. You can see Francesca, Consuelo, and that's Pricilla, the heavily endowed (top case) Aprilia RSV Mille belonging to my roommate.

Yes it is #147 I think ( I had to go overseas right after it was delivered) and I bought both new and used pearl/red tanks. One for daily riding, the other in case I do some track riding and the Tricolore I am going to (try) and keep nice.
I can't wait to get home and ride her!

Thanks,

Hi Guys,
Somewhat new in here. I've been to this forum before because of my Monster, but I didn't know there was a local group meeting here. I've found about it last Wednesday at the Moto Liberty event through Rick and George (and Steven).
Here are my bikes. All the pictures are low quality, either taken with a cell phone or a pocket camera. I'll post better ones someday.
This is my wife's Monster 750.
And this is my ST3 in front of Big Slick. I thought it was a funny picture because the ST doesn't really belong there: unlike the other bikes usually parked there, the ST has over 60 hp, weights less than 700 lb, costs less than $20,000 and can turn corners. Yep, definitely it's not a place for a Ducati... :-)
Both bikes are pretty much standard, we haven't replaced any parts. The Monster has Arrow Titanium exhausts and a K&N filter (it all came with the bike when we bought it used). I made the ST3 a little sportier by lowering the bars to its lowest setting, removed the side bags and brackets and lifted the exhausts up a little (I wish it had adjustable rear sets... maybe someday...). I usually ride with a small tank bag, no side bags unless it's a multi-day trip, the brackets and the bags can be reinstalled in approximately 30 minutes.
Oh, I almost forgot: This is Massimo's Red Monster. Massimo (Max) is my one year-old (probably five months at the time of the picture). Of course there was a Monster waiting for him the day he came from the hospital! :-)

Slick bike piero. Lovin the red wheels.

Yeah, I've said many times that my Monster is half the weight and twice the power of my FXDX, and I thought I would grow bored with the HD after I got the Ducati. For some reason I love the Harley more than I did before (but not more than the Ducati).
It comes down to different bikes for different moods. The "numbers" tell a very imperfect picture.

+2 on that...love my FXDWG and M900.
The new addition to the garage is a Duc of a different color. Many thanks to Daddy Duc for letting me aquire his Bumble Bee looking 2003 999. It's got only 6550mi. on it. The mods that were done are a full Termignoni system w/ ECU programmed just right. Mich PP's, much CF installed. Runs perfect and makes me feel much better in the corners. So I now have a full complement of two-wheeled transports in the garage now to satisfy me. So, Lisa, RonR and The Svoloch aren't the only Tres Nove owners anymore.

Bryant- what kind of rear sets are those? Nice addition with the dry clutch. Is it a slipper too? The dry clutch expense really makes your 848 very unique. [thumbsup] Now you can finally get rid of the tambourine!! [laugh]

The rearsets are Woodcrafts. The DP dry conversion is indeed a slipper clutch (24T). I'll be able to change it to a EVR slipper (48T) with the addition of a spacer (according to Jordan) when the time comes. Once I'm done with the 848 conversion to track... there's a certain 996 I have my eye on... wink [thumbsup]

I think you know which is faster, but since this is a Duc forum we won't go there. ;)
It's a '96 with about 10,300 miles at purchase. I bought it off a Duc rider in Irving (he should be at the track day today giving his track Duc a workout). BTW--thanks to Dax for catching the CL ad. [thumbsup] There's nothing like friends to help you spend $$$. ;D
RichD and a13bpilot gave me ideas for some performance mods (carbs, flywheel, etc). First, though, I'm looking at completing some cosmetic and maintenance work. So far I've added some bar-end mirrors (experimenting with some I had laying around) and new progrips.
I've been enjoying the heck out of it so far. [moto]
gladly CJ. tell me the mods you want and I'll fetch the links for ya since I don't sleep.
CJ! Nice move man! [thumbsup] It seems like the SS crowd is about even with the trip 9 crowd! Very sweet looking ride! [bow_down]
Hmm. I've never posted here, must have over looked it. Its kind of like Monday (Tuesday), so I needed some distraction. Here we go:
'99 M900
Sil Spagetti Headers, Sil/NCR Ti Round Pipes
Rizoma Rearsets, Billet Suspension Arch/Hoop, Penske 8983 rear shock
Nichols Motor Mount Bolts, Open Airbox, Nichols Flywheel, ER Racing Throttle
Rizoma Belt Covers, Clutch Cover, Clutch PP, Vee Two Cam Pulleys, Rizoma Oil Cooler Protector
Vee Two lightweight clutch hub and basket, DP slave Cyl, Brembo GP Masters, Spiegler Lines
Race Tech Fork Internals, CC top triple (soon to be replaced with IMA triple set)
Reverse Shift Lever, CC Clipons, Rizoma Fluid Reservoirs, German Clear-Glass Headlight
DP Gauges with Tach, wee little battery, dyna coils, CC sidestand, Ohlins Damper, under triple mount
Lots of little bits of carbon and billet, titanium and alu bolts in lots of places, stainless everywhere else
I have certainly omitted things, that was merely a top-of-the-head list
(https://lh5.ggpht.com/_4iYlZ1m8UEM/SraU4O3K6II/AAAAAAAAEDw/t9_vKoYijAw/s800/IMG_1592.JPG)

Winter Mod plans include making carbon fiber undertail and airbox to replace the plastic factor pieces, putting on the IMA triple set I have, possibly switching to a single front fluid reservoir for both brake and clutch (semi-common Bimota mod), staring at the VeeTwo cams I have and dreaming about putting them in, Ignitech Programmable Ignition (maybe) and getting the F out of law school.
I kind of went "ape-shit" on blinging out this Monster and have learned a silly amount about the bike and such. Anybody that needs a spare set of hands to do any wrenching, lemme know - I can bring some tools, beer, and hands over (fo' freeeeeeeee). [moto]
I also not so secretely lust after an SS, the posted CR is not helping me out any either... [thumbsup]
SWEEET [thumbsup]
BTW--Your list of work on this bike is inspiring--many ideas [evil]
I keep realizing I left stuff off. Like there's a Nichols billet rear brake caliper mount, the moto master rear brake caliper, open airbox with ferracci ring, updated to 2000+ sidestand bracket so I could use a CC sidestand, no more emissions box, carb vent pods and soon - 'plastic' in general (going to learn how to do carbon fiber to replace the back of the gauges, the airbox/battery/coil mount, and under-tail) and some other misc billet things. I've done a lot of it myself, since I couldn't rightly afford to pay somebody to bolt something on after purchasing it - hell most of this stuff is crazy easy to do I learned. You just might have to buy a tool or two.
I've learned a bit about the chassis set ups, in regards to suspension, the linkage design and rake/trail differences from Monster Generations and the Supersports. The new triples I have waiting to be put on move the offset out to 30mm from around 25mm which will make them have the same offset and steering feel as the 2002+ Monsters (the ones on the ST frame). Interestingly the SS and the pre-02 Monsters shared a lot in common - including triple steering stem diameter (the smaller one, unlike the 02+ models) but Ducati gave them the 30mm offset straight out of the box.
I also moved as many wires as I could (without cutting things) to the other side of the bike, not really shown in those pics but you can imagine. The ones usually behind the side covers.

A BOMb bike indeed
Thanks! Far from done, still want to get 6 pot front calipers and upgraded rotors, lightweight wheels, and the ignition / high comp pistons done.
Next up will be getting a 900SS to tinker with since I already own a second set of cams (race instead of torque for these)...

Wow! You do that too?? [thumbsup]
Remind me to tell you about the attempt to take my bikes from my storage unit this last January. They thought they came prepared until they ran into the dozens of 30mm OnGuard cable locks! They even went down the street and stole a box van and smashed it through the gate of my storage complex ready for "business". I would have loved to have sat back in a lawn chair with a cold beer and watched their feeble efforts! [laugh] [drink] They left empty handed and abandoned the stolen box van in front of my unit! I told the manager he had a choice: either let me move all my stuff to another unit right now or I'm spending the night in my busted up unit with an AR15. He helped me move. [popcorn] [cheeky]

nice bike. remove the frame stickers, score some used black belt covers and you'll be lookin extra nice.
Since I personally have no pics of any of my bikes I will have to use Corey's photobucket account. It's my Back in Black at the July 2007 AMS Laguna Seca MotoGP watch party.

Were the Ohlins an add on?
Yes. It also has a Storz Performance steering damper, carbon bling, DP comfort seat, taller bars and front sprocket cover, CRG lane splitters, Evo license plate goodie and clutch slave. Since pic it has Clay Carrier Composite/CarbonFiberMan.com rear hugger/chain guard and front fork guards. Dax wants me to leave it to him in my will. [laugh]
There are surely many other worthy recipients for your sweet ride than the muskrat!
I'm sure he would disagree. ;D
I got something for ya Ron.......keep it up.........it's mine when he kicks the bucket or his wife tells him to sell the stable. [leo]
There's one in Lubbock I know of. It's not been ridden since bought new. Same color scheme. Numbered too I think. Just sitting in a back room of his jewelry store. He bought it for 12,500.00!
spill the beans damnit.
I was up at the Tech/OSU game last year and went by the store to get my old college roomies ring fixed with him and I was wearing my Dallas Ducati tee. He struck up a Duc session and we didn't get outta there for over an hour. He also is a surfer (another one of my out-of-body experience fantasies) so we yakked it up. He took us back through the secret passage and as I came into the tiny room my eyes glued onto the SC. I asked immediately where he got that. He said he bought it through AMS sight unseen and paid to have it shipped out is what I remember. He thought it was going to be a collector item so he never road it. I was floored to see it.
As Brian said the Ohlins on his was an extra so this one does not have them.

he's not as old as you think he is, so he's probably not going to keel over any time soon, no matter how hard you pray. If you really want a B-in-B maybe you should buy the base model bike and get AMS to have it painted properly. However, if you just want to dog fastwin about his bike, carry on!

not bad...i like it alot, though i want to see it in person; i'm sure the photos aren't doing it justice. have you thought at all about the S4 style wheels?
Definitely going to be doing wheels at some point. I know a lot of people find the 3-spoke Brembos to be iconic, but its not for me. I'd much rather have some 5 spokes, but I have to deal with a 17mm rear axle and the odd 20mm front axle. That typically limits my choices for aftermarket wheels or OEM wheels from other bikes. I'm currently eyeballin' some Marvics, Carrozzerias, and BSTs. All at different price points. I just keep pushing this further and further off.
Yeah, I meant to get out there and do the pics early this morning when it would look much better, but did not make it in time.

things for your agenda and E's birthday/valentines/anniversary/christmas presents to her moto:
you can pull and pc the shock spring.
the top triple nut - center circle with all the holes in it, is available in billet red alu.
do me a favor and make sure the reservoir line on the brake master cylinder isn't kinked. if it is i probably have extra reservoir line if you need it.
line is not kinked but it will be replaced. The spring will be PC'd but on her dime and your help pulling that sucker off is requested.
Don't know about that bike, but I've been liking hanging my bikes from the garage ceiling lately when doing shock work. Less precarious than stands and jacks.

I blast up through Weston to Anna just about every weekend, now... there's a Italian restaurant next to the Flying J we like to eat at.
The bike came with that cover... I thought it was stock at first. But it's pretty cool!
My daughter doesn't ride with me often, but when she does we like to take 455 from 75 into Celina and eat at Lucy's on the Square. We'll likely be doing this in the next few weeks and meet anybody who wants to come out for a late breakfast. I'll post up when we pick a day, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

I live right off Custer, so I cut over to 543, up through Weston, and then east on 455 to Anna... but it's just as easy to go the other way!

Nope... nothing super-duper... just a pic of the 796 after rolling it 6K miles on the way back from Anna. An oil change is in it's immediate future (maybe tonight...) but the real fun will be at 7K when it gets new belts and a valve adjustment. Still haven't decided if I'm going to do that, or just let AMS do it this time. Finally got the last of the crap ethanol-blended fuel out; I went up to Thackerville last weekend and got 11 gallons of 91 octane non-eth fuel just for the motorcycles (and the chainsaw, mower, weed wacker, etc...) so hopefully the tank swelling will go down and that it wasn't damaged very bad.
(http://i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b500/RustyRooter/IMG_5481_zpsuhcbroay.jpg) (http://s1288.photobucket.com/user/RustyRooter/media/IMG_5481_zpsuhcbroay.jpg.html)
Yes, the 650 is looking rather forlorn back against the wall. I need to get new plates for it and then I can take it out for a spin. I did pull the tank last week and flush the ethanol-blend fuel out... lucky, no rust or other deterioration noted. Maybe it will stop running like crap, now...

It probably would... with a front wheel, of course. ;D It would certainly be better on ice than in sand... it's a pig in the sand.
In any event, that bike is probably worth more as parts than together... eBay prices for many of the common parts are sky high, including things like the frame. I've considered dismembering mine and selling it, but I just can't do it. One of these days I will reward it's faithful service by taking it back to Colorado and ride the area around Pikes Peak... which is why I bought it in the first place over 20 years ago...
