Title: Anyone been here yet?
Post by: Monster Dave on May 12, 2011, 04:14:08 PM
The Grand Canyon Skywalk:

4000 feet above the Coloroado river with a clear floor!!

I wonder if they'd let us roll our Monsters out there for a picture??

Pretty impressive build!!

I watched a Discovery special about it. It's strong enough to support the equivalent weight of 71 loaded 747 airliners or an 8.0 earthquake within 50 miles!!

Although I doubt they'd let any of us yahoos roll our bikes out there for a pic, every visitor has to wear medical style shoe covers to walk the glass. Then again maybe if DNA organized the shoot??!!

Humm.....that would be pretty cool though.

Maybe this summer when it's too hot in the Valley, we can do a ride up there, camp, and come back the next day.

I'm guessing the answer would be no go on motorcycles without a substantial bump above the $75 it costs to do it on foot, given that they don't allow even small personal items out on the Skywalk; from the FAQ at http://www.grandcanyonskywalk.com/faqs.html (http://www.grandcanyonskywalk.com/faqs.html):

Can I bring my camera on the Skywalk?
In an effort to preserve the glass, personal items are not permitted on the Skywalk. This includes cameras, cell phones, strollers, etc. Lockers are available at the Skywalk to store these items at no charge to you.

Good catch - I hadn't seen either the $$ or the stipulations. So leaving burnout marks on the glass from our Ducs is WAY out of the range of acceptable possibilities!!

LOL - oh well.

Wait, you can't bring cameras?

That's re-gosh-dang-diculous.

I agree.
