Option 6: Don't use VHT paint.

Thinking about going with an open clutch. Can't afford new parts, so I'm gonna paint the parts with some matte finish VHT. Not sure what color combo I want, though definitely some combo of black and red.

+1. You need a little more red to tie the red headers in.
are those red stockings on the pipes? victoria's secret for ducati?

Hey sailor, whatever floats your boat!
black, black, black
This pole is severely flawed. As per forum conduct policy Section 6, Article 3:
All poles shall contain a "boobies" option or be considered in violation of board regulations and subsequently deemed invalid.

Yes, of course. The only problem is that I would not trust the vote of anyone who didn't vote for boobies. It's a conundrum.
polls may allow two votes you know
it's gotta be red/black. the red of the pipes makes it so.
those forks are standing out.
i think you need to go:
MAGNESIUM SIDE CASE.
RED PRESSURE PLATE.
BLACK OPEN COVER.
SILVER SPRINGS.
BOOM.
Not entirely happy with it, especially the "shade" of red in question. But it's a start. The next thing to do is fix the flaking red coating on the header pipes.
As you can see, I went with the red pressure plate and black caps. I didn't do anything with the springs.

My 2 cents; black out the pipes and go with black and gold plate/springs/cover. I think that would play off of those sexy forks quite nicely.

Keep the pipes red but go with a gold pressure plate and red caps
Lets see if I can't find a picture

There yah go
I'm rockin' a totally different color combo than you are but I do believe that this would work well
this color combination might work well - or go with black spring caps instead of silver:

Here's a question. What do you guys do to keep water out of the clutch when you wash your bike? Or is there even a problem with getting the clutch wet?

I'm leaning very much toward this course of action.

It's not a problem. Just start the bike after you've finished and the water slings right off. Do not spray directly at it if you're using a hose. Don't use a drive-thru car wash. Common sense stuff.. ;-)
Whatever you do, DON"T black out those pipes
seriously....don't do it

Yeah, I was thinking about it, but I got over it. They stay red. Gotta have it.
Instead of coating the headers black, I'm thinking about vinyl wrapping the forks black.
If you wrap the forks you are going to have to do something about that rear spring. The forks are all that are keeping that spring. Other than that and the frame sticker I wouldn't change a thing.
