Hey... I'm looking to do an upgrade for the P-Pods suspension...
Mountain bikes have small shocks on them that are adjustable and durable...
Anyone mountainbike and know what is quality stuff?
Any good local bike shops that have good inventory?
Not looking to spend a fortune, but a few hundred is in the budget...

I might have a mountain bike that my cousins trashed that has a pretty good rear shock.
Lemme check it out and I'll get back to you.

I mountain bike and yes, Fox makes good stuff. And yes, it's the same Fox of MX and old road race shocks. They have morphed into the m-bike market.
I saw the Fox air-spring types I like the adjustability of them...
A little concerned a blown seal could mess my day on the road up...
but they are rebuildable which is good.
Considering a spring-type too.
Less adjustable for changing load weight
-but the air seal can't fail if it is not there.
It looks like something will work out of this 'though.
eBay has several closing this week of a few kinds...
We'll see.
The Fox DHX 5 coil is their heavier duty shock typically for Downhill bikes in the 40 lb. range. Has compression adjust, rebound, preload. Various spring weights are available. The shocks also come in different stroke lengths, 3 inches being the longest. You'd be welcome to try mine out to see if it works. They can usually be found on ebay for $200-300.

I concurr with Lane. The Fox DHX 5 coil is rated for "heavier riders" (ask me why I know this) [laugh]
I thinik for the PP9K, you'll want to stick with something like this. Unfortunately, Fox is proud of their equipment. I had a guy come buy a use mountain bike frame with rear shock (nothing else on the frame) because all he wanted was the Fox shock it had. thus... finding a "good deal" on one may be challenging.
If you're in the market for used, check out the classifieds on mtbr.com. Not necessarily "better deals", but should give you more options than just surfing ebay or craigslist.
Good luck! [thumbsup]
