Title: Paint or not to paint

Only thing Im worried about is that I would need to paint  the belly black to.  Anyone know how hard or how much that would be?    Thanks for the suggestion "wannaducbad" [thumbsup]

That is the first mod I would make to a 696, pull off the peg platform and have it powder coated. I think black will blend it nicely and do the exhaust heat shields too. Don't think you need to worry about the bottom of the engine/belly. The other things is to match both to the bike color. For the cost of powder coating, very inexpensive, I would be tempted to try both and see which one I liked the best - but hey that's just me and my tastes did not get my M900 to the Monster Challenge finals so what do I know. - Gene

Remove the fender, reflectors and frame stickers while you're at it.  :)  [thumbsup]

Oh yeah, and have the top triple clamp powdercoated to match the lower clamp.  ;D

If I had a 696, I would make it a dedicated monoposto, getting rid of the whole bracket and replace it with something else.  Wouldn't paint the belly at all, looks great like it is.

No prob, just something I'd been looking at with every pic I see of a 696. Instead of powder coating the heat shields though, I'd go carbon-fiber. BTW did you test ride a 695 before getting the 696, how did they compare?

Paint the rear-sets, get a carbon fibre belly pan.  ;D

And chop that heinous thing on the new rear end. Who designed that monstrosity anyway?   ;)

This just proves that the old saying..

there are no dumb questions..

is completely WRONG!!

Actually, there are a few other mods that you should be worried about doing before that, i.e.: reflectors. stickers, painting the whole thing black, etc.

Interesting, but it would be difficult to make that look cohesive, IMHO.

haha, if i had one of those i'd put hours into photoshopping/drawing ideas to mod em.  I kinda like the red red myself now that i look at it more though.

I'm curious what NAK3D696 is leaning toward doing though.

I was looking at the white one today at Eastside in Bellevue.

Finding more and more to get rid of in attempts to make this thing better!!

Gotta get rid of the big plastic box behind the forks.  Maybe replace with some kind of billet or CF part that partially exposes what's behind it?!
