Going east on Sherman way (L.A. Valley), It's a major street, 3 to 4 lanes each way w/ middle divider/lane for both ways to turn left. There's a lady in a lexus facing east in the middle divider waiting to turn left, and a IDIOT in an old BRONCO facing west waiting to turn left (they're head to head). The BRONCO IDIOT wants to make his left a lil further ahead but can't go into his westbound traffic to get around her because it's a lil to backed up for him.
So this make the beast with two backsING IDIOT gets the bright idea to go head-on into eastbound traffic to get around... guess who's in the lane. Yep. I get on the brakes hard, but within seconds I was on ice skates. I managed to steer in between the IDIOT's truck and the lady's car, hit the side of his truck it knocks me into the Lexus, I come to a much quicker and painful stop then I planned... and so my flying lesson begins.
I land exactly on the top of my head, roll over, jump up from shock and adrenaline and precede to ask not so nicely WHY HIS make the beast with two backsING TRUCK IS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET, DRIVING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. This clown jumps out the truck and runs up on me and screams. NO REALLY... HE SCREAMS... AT ME.
Quote: "I'm trying to make the beast with two backsin go around"
Oh Really. Now I'm about to KNOCK HIM THE make the beast with two backs OUT. But my right arm (Whole right side to be exact) wasn't going with the plan. I couldn't lift it to hit him.
By this time people in westbound traffic (remember it was backed up which is why the IDIOT made his genius move) are getting out and trying to calm me down. NOW THE PAIN HITS. Cops and ambulance called I go to the hospital. I'm lucky. I should be much worse for what happened.
For anyone questioning full face helmet...... Don't. There is no question.
I have the Shark RSR2 and it took all the force of me coming down on top of my head, and honestly all I felt was a lil bump. I remember the impact vividly. I would even go so far to say invest in a top of the line helmet 500+.
they're worth it. All that engineering that goes into what's inside isn't just a bunch of fancy words and BS.
Pics aren't very good but you get the idea.

Sorry to hear that man. Glad you are ok. What's the damage to you?
They er, make yer right side work at the doctors?
Please tell me they have the info on this asshat.
GAH! SUCK! >:( >:( >:(
Glad to hear you're at least okay enough to give us a recap!
How are you doing? You said your right side was non-compliant, which is a shame, because that guy truly deserved to have the everlovin' piss slapped out of him. Any broken bones? You gonna be able to hop back on when the IDIOT's insurance buys you a shiny new bike?
Oh, and +1 on the helmets.
Good to hear you're alright.
Thankfully no broken bones. I was truly fortunate.
Right side beat up, knees make the beast with two backsed up, but i'm movin around.
It's bruised, swollen with some road rash. I was wearing a baseball t-shirt. DUH!! Never again Folks.
At the least I'm wearing one of those armored shirt thingy's they have.
All info on THE IDIOT was recieved by the [leo]
........... maybe that white 848 is in my future. But make the beast with two backs I loved what I did with that "city" And I want another MONSTER!!
Be xtra cafreful out there family. Expect the un-expected, because that sure was un-expected
Your a walking ad for helmets. Can't understand why some people don't wanna wear them.
Glad to hear your generally OK if a bit bruised. Sounds like it could have been a lot worse.
Time for a new bike then? :)
Oh..... motorcycle boots are good too. I was wearing mine and they saved me from having really make the beast with two backsed up ankles and shins.
Could have been MUCH MUCH worse.
Jesus!! What a scare!!!
Glad to hear you're OK!! [thumbsup]
Gruesome bike pics, though.
sorry to hear that dude. You have a beautiful bike by the way
Holy....
I'm so glad you're able to post this.
It doesn't get more "at fault" than what that jerko did.
Hope the healing goes well.
I can't believe the guy had the audacity to yell at you, what a total ASS! [bang] It's a shame you didn't have a spoon handy. Glad to hear you are alive. +1 on the helmet, and +1 on the body armor for future purchase.

Had a beautiful bike.
Way bummer, looks like you had some tricks on that bike. Sorry for your loss glad you're ok though.
jesus tits! at least you're still amongst the living!
(and some people shouldn't be allowed to drive... :P)
Yikes!!! Double yikes!! :o So glad to hear that you survived relatively intact. [thumbsup] [thumbsup]
Good luck, post up if you need anything.
Thanks for the well wishes guys and girls. [thumbsup]
Glad your ok.. I think that rotten bastid's Insurance owes you a new Monster, a 848 and a pile of money

Glad you're alive though!
Really happy to hear that you are ok man and glad to see that your bucket did it's job of protecting your head. Hopefully things will work out and replace your steed soon and that you will be healed up as soon as possible.
Holy ratshit, what a situation!
Congrats on having the where-with-all to save yourself.
That must have friggin scary.
good luck to you on your recovery. Sue that bastard for all he's worth. Maybe you can get $500 for his bronco.

Had a beautiful bike.
Only thing that saved him was my lack of mobility. I was headed to catch up with some riding buddies.
Seriously, this isn't just talk, if I was with my (1) or more of my boys... he would have gotten the dog shit stomped out of him. The way that guy charged me after causing that wreck , it would have been a wrap for that dude.

Thanks J. It was a big ole piece a shit 80's Bronco.... I might get $250 for it.
Wish we could all go in and pay the asshat a visit. Glad you're in one piece man. Make him pay!
Shit sorry about that, heal up and get a new bike :o
I feel for you & may you have a speedy recovery
Shit man, i was very recently in a similar situation. I´m glad you´re alive and well and that you could live to tell the story.
We´re both lucky to still be here! [beer]
Glad you are pretty much OK. Unbelievable move by the Bronco driver. Even more unbelievable was his attitude. Even though you seem to be OK go see a doctorbetter safe than sorry. It will be on his tab anyway
Wow, dude, I'm really glad to hear you are okay. Some idiots in this world cant drive. I would have stomped the crud out of him had I been there.
Heal up, man and get back to riding!
WoW :o
NO MORE FLYING! Sure glad you weren't hurt worse :P
The truck idiot should have recieved major tickets from [leo]
Sounds like there were witnesses as well?
You may need a lawyer. Have you checked with your insurance company? They should go to bat for you if the truck guy's company is unreasonable...
Please keep us posted... Speedy recovery [thumbsup]
Dude... glad to hear you are ok...I am in LA and it is a jungle on the roads. If you need a good lawyer let me know. I can refer you to one. BUT GET A LAWYER!!!!
As others have mentioned.. GET A LAWYER. I´ve had to file a suit against the lady who ran me over as MY and HER insurance co. are in what seems to be cahoots to put me over a barrel and get rough with me without any lube.
Do it before it´s too late.
In aviation, they say that any landing that you can walk away from is a good one. Glad you met that criterion here.
Good to hear you made it through and had gear on that saved your life. Good luck on the new bike, be it monster or 848
Really sorry to hear that man. Sounds fairly similar to the accident I had a couple weeks ago...(oncoming car, wrong side of road trying make left turn). Sucks. Hope your alright. Sorry about the bike
Calls to the Lawyer being made. Thanks for the advice and well wishes everyone.

He should have serious tickets. This wasn't an accident, it was an on-purpose.
He purposely drove into on-coming traffic [bang]
I wasn't able to stick around to see what the police did. I'll be talking with them to find out.

Im happy we're all ok and able to talk about past accidents. Gear up!!
NuTTs: I've read about your experience, glad you made it through and are shopping for a new bike.
Glad you survived, get the most you can out of that bag of sh!t and get a license if you are going to do anymore flying. Get well soon. [thumbsup]
Sorry to hear about it, and glad you're relatively OK.
Sherman Way can be challenging when it's congested (nearly always). Where were you, West valley, NoHo?
And I understand about the shirt -- it was a scorcher yesterday, and today.

Thanks bro
I had just made a right onto Sherman way off Van nuys Blvd. when it happened.
So I was on the border of NoHo/Van nuys
Those pics made me feel pale. So glad you're alive and kicking. I hope you heal up well and fast. Get a new Monster and make that guy's insurance go up. I can't believe he was yelling at you!! Stupid idiot. That's a real shame about your bike, and thank goodness for helmets!
Celeste
Man that sucks!
Maybe it's a good thing you couldn't lay him out cold. From his actions (causing the accident and his response of yelling at you) you might have really f'd up your hand hittin his obviously thick, empty dumb assed noggin.
Heal up quick Man.
Good luck with the lawyer
terrible, but glad to hear you're (relatively) OK.
Andy
damn, that's f'ed.
so around here, most people rolling in $250 piles have zero insurance. tell me it's different in your case.

If it's got registration it's insured, and it had tags.
In Cali you can't do much of anything with a car until you get Insurance.... Thankfully
So how are you feeling on "the day after"?
I'm thinking all the soreness probably hit you like a ton of bricks this morning. I know I probably sound like your mother or something...but did you visit your doctor yet? You just might need some professional documentation later if this guy is as big a jerk as I think he is going to be.
Sorry to hear about the incident, glad you're mostly OK.
Take care, and heal up quick!

Jebus!!! Thank god you are ok!
i have one of those kevlar shirts... in a lovely yellow
My first ride with my girl on the back after a 7 year hiatus, make that fiancee on the back, we're pulling out of a gas station and there is a line of cars coming in the 'IN' lane... mister 'dad's buick' figures the process is too slow for him so he pulls around the line and speeds IN through the OUT side... directly at me. binders on hard but not being used to a passenger on the back i tip over... very very slowly. all the way. it would have been funny but for the ass-buick... who drove off, 'natch.
so, like he said " Be xtra cafreful out there family. Expect the un-expected, because that sure was un-expected"
always!
ohh man i'm so sorry. what a dumb F**k the driver was. glad you are ok
and +1 on the good helmet and gear..all it takes is a good crash to realize
just how worth the investment is. glad you are ok. too bad about the bike..
its beautiful.

oh, yeah, hey - +1
miss your next day of work, too, even if you think "I could /manage/ it". don't, hit a clinic if not your regular GP on an ugent/same-day appointment. have yourself checked out head to toe. maybe you're already on this page but if there's any doubt here's a reinforcing opinion.
[thumbsup]
i don't have personal crash aftermath experience, but my boss is our EH&S manager, so i see things. {thankfully, not dead people, but lots of injured ones}

I'm in physical therapy now. Thanks bro [thumbsup]
Multiple contusions, lacerations , and some roadrash has me at the Doc 3x a week.
Wow that sad news dude hop you get back on the road soon [moto]
That sucks! Glad you're ok though,it really is scary out there.
Oh man! A blue monster bites the dust. You had sent me a picture of your bike when I was asking about rim stripes. As soon as I saw a pic of that front end I knew it was your bike. Bummer. I am glad you are ok.
[thumbsup] to the Shark helmet as well...I have a RSR2 and i've always said that helmet is going to save me in a wreck. It's an amazing piece of engineering. I encourage anyone to purchase one I know, even though they are wicked expensive.
I say you buy the bike back and part it out...i'd be in line for some goodies you've got on there. 8)
Bummer, hope you can nail him to the wall.
Glad to hear you're not too badly hurt. Good luck with the lawyer. Rake that punk over the coals.
Glad to hear you are alright. I have no sympathy for people like that. I laid my bike down a month ago and people honked and yelled at me while I was laying in the middle of the road obviously shaken up trying to maneuver my bike into the median... Where's the love? I bet you would give your bike to see his face when he gets the papers... Heal up soon.
Uggghhh.... >:( >:( There are some geniuses out there, aren't there... I would ave pulled over and knocked the guy out for you if I was driving by!!
Sorry to hear, and glad you're OK!! Your bike was really nice, so hopefully Mr. Insurance Guy treats you well + you can get going on a new project!!

That's what I wish for most ( besides never having this happen), Is that someone was with me to put that guy to sleep for a few minutes. If any guy needs to get knocked out it's him, and Suge Knight (but he got his a few weeks back) [laugh]
I still get really pissed off and can't believe that the IDIOT never even said "sorry" or "Are you alright?"
thejsnide- Assholes are everywhere. You'd think someone would be kind enough to help. :-\
mcgalinmd- Hopefully you don't have to find out just how good the RSR2 is. But it's a great helmet, I recommend it.
Thanks once again to everyone. You all and this board keep my spirits up. [thumbsup]
It's a good thing you didn't hit him. It makes your case stronger in court without the assault charge.
