Title: Betty Time to play devil's advocate again
Post by: FIFO on June 28, 2011, 01:22:24 AM
NSW SPEED ZONES UNDER REVIEW

Hey Betty your judgement is needed. ;D
What do you think of this? ( being comunity minded and allways willing to protest and stick up for our rights.) ;)
The new state government is setting up a web site so we can have our say about all the stupid varying speed limits!
Something that was promised buy B O'farrell in election mode.
Now i thought this might be our golden opportunity to get the speed limits sorted on the old road.
If enough bike riders were made aware and submitted to the impending web site you never now?
Other roads like Bells line /putty rd etc could also benefit as well.
Why i am asking you is the only down side i can see, is that they could go for say 60klm all the way along the old road rather than a steady 80klm (would be dreaming for 100klm)
Or should we just shut up and take it up the arse like men  :'(

Oh and don't rush a reply please give this the care and consideration that it needs

I dunno.  If they raise speed limits on the old road, that could mean a whole bunch of people don't lose their licences.  Then those people wouldn't do track days, and Eastern Creek could go belly up.

It's the butterfly effect, or something.

For the last 3 Sundays we have counted 4-6 marked and un-marked highway patrol cars on the Putty Road from Wilberforce to the new cafe.

I don't think they will raise the speed limit.

It would be really nice if they could drop the price of track days.

Sorry Rob I haven't been able to give this the time it would require.

But check this out:

So who knows ... 100km/h for the Old Road ... maybe ... [laugh]

Yeah, note they say "ineffective".  Means they're easy to spot and people are used to them, so they don't raise lots of dough.

They'll just take those 38 cameras and put them somewhere else (like on the old road) where they'll be more effective.
