I am considering getting a new set of gloves that are on sale, and read that brand of gloves runs a little tight.
For me, tight gloves = circulation getting cut off -> numb fingers
Too tight and too loose is bad - too tight can make it difficult to close your hand all the way and/or reduce circulation. Too loose will often bunch up and be uncomfortable as well.
Leather gloves tend to loose up just a little as they break in, so they should be just a tiny bit on the snug side when new. Synthetic gloves tend not to break in so don't count on any extra space with break in if you go that route.
With a glove that is to tight, your finger tips will loose circulation first.
Racing gloves run a bit more snug than street glove of the same size and brand, but it is designed that way and have stretch panels and pre-curved fit to make up for the lack of extra material. Yes leather will loosen up and become a perfect fit, but not if the gloves are very tight and your fingers are tingling.

Depending where your buying from and their return policy, I would buy the size you think will fit and also the next size up, return the the that doesn't fit.... I like the buy from Revzilla.com excellent return / exchange policy for gear that doesn't fit.

Thanks. As a matter of fact, Revzilla is where I was looking at the gloves, and reviews said the gloves run a little tight. I like your idea of buying 2, and returning the one that doesn't fit.
What gloves? Maybe someone on here has bought them and can attest to how tight they are.
I was looking at the Shift Volt gloves... they are on clearance, so the price is right.

:] Bought those a month ago. My review is on there.
"I needed a glove to replace my daily gloves as I like to call it. Just something short, simple, easy to get on and off. I really like the strap on these that holds the gloves on. These do run slightly on the smaller size. I usually wear a large in gloves. If I would go to an extra large usually gloves would have room but I would have extra room in the fingers. I hate that. So ordered an extra large based off the other reviews here and am very happy. If they still have some order them quick."
Things I won't buy without trying them on first:
- Gloves
- Helmets (go ahead and ask why)
- Jackets (didn't learn my lesson)
- Pants
- Boots
- Women (don't ask)
Advice point 1: Try things on at local shops to verify fit and sizing, then order online.
Advice point 2: Check Revzilla's return policy, as online retailers are getting wise to people buying multiples and returning the unsized ones.

All excellent points,
I will add, if you find a brand that fits you, and you're happy with the fit and finish, stick with them ( I wear Dainese size 56 pant and jacket, 47 boot, which fit excellent with variance between sport and tour cut, and I can order blindly online and will get a perfect fit every time).
Also Revzilla and cycle gear have excellent return policies, my comment refered to other companies that you have to pay to send a non fitting item back and pay again for shipping to you, and if you still don't like the item and want your money back, you have to pay a restock
fee.
^ , but one hitch to watch for that's bitten me is that brands aren't consistent with their sizing. I have one pair of size large joe rocket gloves that are way too small for me and one pair that are a bit too big and one pair (exact same model and color as the pair that are too big) that are exactly correct. Actual size varies a huge amount from one glove to another even for a given make/model. At least JR seems to somehow get the left and right in a set to match. I have a pair of helds where the left glove is about half a size smaller than the right - shoddy QC there. I've also found olympia pants fit very different from year to year and model to model.

Be careful with this one. Once you get it, it's un-upgradable. It has an outragous return policy. Restock fee is 50% of what you own.
Thanks everyone. [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [thumbsup]
All very valid points, and all points will be considered. Looks like I will have to go to a local shop and try on the gloves... or let them order in the gloves, I try them and then decide whether they are right or not.
