Title: My new Dainese gear...
Post by: $Lindz$ on July 21, 2011, 06:20:19 PM
I decided to step up my protection for track and canyon riding.

Dainese Full Metal Pro Rossi gloves, Redline suit, Axial Pro In Rossi boots.

In love.... feels like Dainese made all this stuff specifically for me, it fits and feels SO nice. It's definitely more than I wanted to spend (by about $750-1000) but I couldn't get it out of my head when trying on any other gear. These gloves are an ABSOLUTE dream, and the cut of the suit fits me better than anything else off-the-rack I've tried. I'm 6'2", ~170 lbs with a pretty slim build. If I get a suit perfectly for my height it's too baggy in the legs and arms (and mid torso, oddly). The cut of the Redline fits me great in a 52. Tight and perfect for track/canyons. It's a bit hard to stand upright and be 100% comfortable, but that's not the point of suits is it? On the bike in riding position, the slightly tighter fit feels perfect.

Here are some (stock) pics:

I'm going to dye the left boot black (from blue) so once I do that I'll post up pics of my actual gear (I'll be back in the states in about 3 weeks).

Ride safe!

Awesome gear  [clap]  I would have guessed you'd be way over $1k for all that, nice score!

$1000 over (planned) budget... Not 1k for all that. I'd be super impressed if anyone managed to nab that suit alone for 1000 (and it wasn't a fake)

- Once your bank account recovers you might look at a 2pc or jacket and pants set. If you're out for a day on the streets/road, not the track, a 1pc makes for some awkward pee stops. I've got a couple pants (leather and textile) and couple jackets  (leather and meshy textile)that allow me to mix and match for the day. You could probably do a 2px suit from dianese, I'm not one who can. With a 34 us pant size and a 46 us jacket size the pants in a 2px would be huge or the jacket tiny.

Oh, one other think to buy while you're in a spending mood - a back protector. I quite like my Forcefield L2

Here's my separates stuff that I've had for a while:

I have a wave back protector in the jacket. Undecided on which one I am going to get for the suit (and chest protector too). I decided on 1 pc suit because of the comfort when on the bike vs. a 2 pc. Saved weight is a nice little bonus as well. Besides the added protection, I really wanted new gear/1 pc suit for the comfort when riding those long days in the twisties (and of course for the track). I don't like how 2 piece gear pulls at the seam and bunches up in the front/pinches. It's fine for cruisy days but I'll trade the awkward pee breaks for on-bike comfort.

All you are missing is an AGV helmet and then you'd be a walking stereotype for a Ducati rider.  *adding*  [cheeky]

True story - I went to CycleGear the other day, looking for a summer mesh jacket.  I got off my red S2R and walked in with AGV S4 helmet in my head.  The dude at the counter immediately said to me "Ducati Monster, AGV helmet.  Our Dainese collection is at the corner".  I didn't know if I should smile and hiss at him.

So yeah all my new gear fits so rad and holy f*ck the boots are the best thing ever. Would recommend.... Kinda feel like I wasted money with anything/everything else (my other boots, basically).

Carbon/Kevlar skeletonz:

Colourz!

One undone to show "inner bootie":

Glovesssssss

Rossi vs. my Spidis. Much more shape and protection. Of course one pair is fully broken in, but still the Spidis are representative of typical mid-level gloves. Comfy but only protection is preally from abrasion. The Daineses have a lot more hard protection and formed pieces, etc etc.

Note the extra little piece of leather sewn onto the left middle finger for the clutch lever:

And I got to un-red-ing my suit. Looks way better. Left the one on the back because it doesn't look horrible. Will decide later whether or not to keep that one or remove it also.

Didn't that leave a bunch of holes in the leather?  I was thinking of removing a logo off one of my jackets but I was worried about all the holes left behind.

Holes are so small, it's very hard to notice them.

Where were the logos?:

^Shows the gear in action, too!

After riding this last week with the new gear, it's... wow. These boots (Axial Pro In) are an absolute dream. I love the gloves too but these boots blow my mind. Suit has been great also... I wear long pants and long sleeve hot weather Under Armour to say cool and sticky-free, it flows a ton of air, it's super comfortable and I haven't had any 'top snap pop open' issues like a lot of the earlier 2-zip suits.

I also (finally) got around to doing this to the left boot:
