If I had $30k+ to spend on a bike, that would be the one, hands down!  I would be torn between riding it or hanging it in the living room.

Please take it to the track and give us an "average joe" perspective of the traction control.   [moto]

I rode today for the 1st time since my accident back on 4/5 . My Surgeon had told me two weeks ago that I wouldn't ride again this year.  I just couldn't believe it ! I called his office this last Wednesday and asked his Nurse to ask him what Pathological reason could I not ride for the rest of the year and his response was that I could go ahead and ride , just that he didn't want to see me again as a patient.

So to say I was a bit nervous was an understatement . I rode for an hour or so and it was something else. Since the 1098R is new I'm breaking it in ,so I stayed under 5500 rpms but 60 mph comes so fast in second gear without even trying and the Full Race Termis are LOUD !!!  I can't imagine what they will sound like when the Orchestra is in full song ! I thought my S4Rs w/ the Full Termis was loud but this is like the S4Rs is baby bear and this is papa bear ....w/ a sore foot. Riding the Monster will probably feel like a gelding compared to this Stallion.

I made it home in one piece and I hope it stays that way. It's not a bike for a guy that is 6'5" , bar risers will be a must if I want to ride in comfort and beable to see without bending my neck back against my back.

It's going to take me along time to get the 1500 breakin miles . I need to get bar risers so I can see where I'm going since I'm 6'5" It's not much fun to ride with your head bent back against your back constantly. I just rode it for the 1st time today since I've been mending from an accident and Surgery .

please beat the heck out of that bike on a track and ride it the way it was made to be.

a bike that was engineered like that was developed with tons of hours by very hard working engineers and technicians.. please please please DO NOT PUT THAT BIKE IN A LIVING ROOM FOR DISPLAY.  That would be a shame.

That bike should be ridden and ridden hard at a track.

congratulations and enjoy the bike.  you got a great bike.

Not to worry...when it's broken in it will get a chance to show it's stuff....not in a living room !

Well, you know, since you are on the mend, we should do the gentlemanly thing and help you out by breaking in that beautiful 1098R for you, right?   ;D

Just kidding.  Hope you're feeling better.

Heli-Bars.  I got a set for my 848...went from a torture rack to fairly comfortable.  HUGE difference.

I sat on one a couple weeks ago and it was like that one car commercial (Nissan maybe?) where the people touch the car and they're transferred into this frenzy of speed and furry.

Awesome.

First,  Nice bike!

Second,  Given your history of accidents on the S4R I hope you listen to the advice you've been given and let the bike "show it's stuff" on the TRACK.  I'd have to second your doctors request to not see you - or in my case read about you -- binning it again on the road.  This Stallion will get you in trouble much faster and with more dire results.

Get some track instruction and then go use that bike for what it was built for.  Ride hell out of it.

Sheeeesh. I can think of alot less expensive track bikes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but,,,,,,that would be a perfect track bike. Definetly not one that you will get to comfortable on with your stature on long rides. Different bars might help.

If it was mine,,,,I would hope that I was in a position,,, where if I tossed it away in a corner,,,that the thought of loseing a 30+ K bike wouldnt bother me to much.
If it was mine,, I would ride it everywhere I could  [thumbsup]

I can tell from my 1st easy ride that it's got way too much stuff for playing road racer on . Any way I'm not suppose to be a road racer any more.
