no factory race team in WSBK in 2012....
Ouch...grid size isn't exactly a concern in WSBK, but this is troublesome...especially when you consider the insane level of support they provide to the MotoGP teams.
Yamaha and Ducati learned from Aprilia. Whenever they have a new model coming, they will all pull out for a season.
Does that mean Yamaha's going to build an uncompetitive 3 cylinder machine? ;D
is the ink on marco's 2012 contract even dry yet?
so rumors are biaggi retires, marco goes to aprilia. that would work nicely for everyone..
This is really good news for Yamaha's championship aspirations. The 2012 satellite Yamaha team is going to go into the final rounds with a big points lead over the factory efforts.
maybe wsbk in general is moving toward the Althea/ParkinGO model.
What factory teams are left? Just BMW, Aprilia & Kawasaki, I think. Weird, cuz of those three I think only BMW has money. Then again, Kawi is not spending a bazillion $ in GP, so it can run a WSBK (albeit with what is basically a pedal bike). In fact, none of those manufacturers are in GP. Hmmmmm . . .
and kawi isn't really factory, it's paul bird/factory supported. just like ten kate honda.
Ah, that's right. Too bad. With full factory support, it could probably take the pitbike championship.

And apparently supported in part by, um, extracurricular activities too :)

And here I thought it was founded in Miami. Cock-a-roach. ;)

Quote....Should ParkinGO venture to Superbikes, Rovelli revealed he will likely do so with Davies before considering any other rider, potentially Marco Melandri....
boy do I think this could be a black eyed mistake....
why?
the 600 is a different animal from the WSBK spec 1K cc bikes....you have a veteran experienced GP/1K rider fully at your disposal and whom can convey direction and set-up and so forth....and help transition the machine results wise from the factory end of how they are now...why throw that experience to the side?...Davies can move to Superstock 1K as a step in the process or stay in WSS after winning the crown for another year for to help build the teams financial support/sponsorship base....
you're assuming that marco is really available. and chaz has raced 125 GP, 250 GP, MotoGP, Formula Xtreme, AMA Supersport, DSB, WSS. he's young but not exactly a rookie.
