Taking a bunch of shit to the powdercoaters this weekend, gas cap included.
Is it necessary to disassemble the gas cap "unit"??
I have no idea how hot the baking ovens get, and I definitely don't want to melt shit.

--- Back to your question ---
I would completely dissasemble every piece to ensure proper even coating.
But....., best to check with the person doing the powder coating.

I pulled mine apart to send it out to be blackenated.
The fiddliest part is removing the tiny hinge pin for the key flap - and getting it back in afterwards is equally amusing.
i tried to remove that pin had failed hopelessly. does it knock right through?

Unless that's hard-anodized be prepared for it to fade to purple pretty quickly.

Yup - just find something to gently drift it on out... and then watch as those 2 little spring plates fall out [laugh]. Its just a bit fiddlesome.
