Title: Bugger !
Post by: ducmeister on September 18, 2011, 03:22:28 AM
Hi all,

Some of you may know that my wife and I are currently trying to sell our house and yesterday it was open for inspection so I shifted the bike out of the carport to "declutter" and parked it up at the end of the street (we live in a dead end street).  To cut a long story short, before I had a chance to bring it home, the neighbour across the road backed out and gave it a nudge tipping it off the stand.  :o >:( :'(
Fortunately she is a good neighbour and came and told us straight away.  From what I can tell the bike came to rest on the right handlbar and the front end of the muffler.  The only damage I could immediately see was a loose mirror, bent handlbar, and the bar end weight is gouged where it grazed the edge of the kerb before digging into the dirt.  The muffler appears to be ok except for a bit of dirt stuck under the front end cap and there is a bit of Jackeroo paint on the left muffler.  I'll have a good look at it tomorrow to confirm no more damage.
With MotoGP in 4 weeks and 2 of those being elsewhere on hols, I've only got 2 weeks to get parts and fit them.  Poor timing to say the least.
Such is life.

I think you are lucky,

Just imagine if your good neighbour came over and said "I've just bumped your bike, can you give me a hand to lift my car off it".

There is no good time to have an acco.

No doubt you will be roadworthy for the run south.   [thumbsup]

Agreed.  It could have been a lot worse.

Just hoping that the parts are easy to get.

Back on the road already and for the grand sum of $138 and change. [thumbsup]

I still can't believe a bike can get knocked over and only cost that much to fix !

How ironic, a few weeks ago while we were going through the exact same senario of selling and doing open houses guess what happened?

Can't say the goose who backed into it was excellent,  in fact it was my next door neighbor who came in to tell me what happened.
Thankfully I put my bike cover on it which saved the day in many ways, my grand total of damage is about $20 and a small bend in my rear brake lever.

Oh and according to the gooses son who tried to knock my block off for accusing his father of damaging my bike it was my fault for parking it in the street opposite his drive way.... [roll]

With these people it's funny how it's always everyone's fault but those that cause the damage.

Guess I'm reaping the benefit of living in a street where everyone gets on.  Why am I moving again?
