Looks kinda beefy at the tail section.
Looks like a sport tourer hiding under that cover.
on the Monster site?
seems more like new touring kits for the Monster.
To generate more interest, they put a Busa hump on a Monster!

Who has a pic of that abomonation from occ
I'd be seriously bent if that were the case, since a Ducati variant of the F800ST was what I'd really wanted when I bought my 796. I'd reasoned that, with the discontinuation of the ST's, Ducati had assumed no market existed and the the long-legged were simply content to ride GS/MTS-style bikes.
Not that I'm dissatisfied with my choice, but definitely a more relaxed bike with better wind protection on a 796 chassis would have rung my bell more!

i agree with it prob being a st upgrade or st bits for the monster
You guys are all wrong. That's just a REALLY swollen tank.

A Monster with different pegs and seat...
and panniers and a top case would be...
what?
Maybe an SS model? Kinda looks like a half fairing under there.
Large water or oil cooler.
Tank bag & tail bag.
Either a Monster ST package or a smaller ST bike that falls into the 800cc class. It's possible there is a 796 designed to compete with the Tiger 800.

When you compare that covered pic with the side view of an 1100Evo they seem to have the same tall ass.
well it can only be a variation of the Monster since it's on the Monster site.
I truly think it's a Monster City or Monster Touring
Taller bars, luggage, etc.
jato boosters....count me in
796 Multi? :D
[bacon]
monster 1199S
looks like a touring kit (possibly compensating for canceling the sport touring style GT1000, the background graphic with city & mountain landscapes also seems to hint at this possibility), although we could all hope it was some type of collaborative Ducati SpA * Radical Ducati offering ... well at least I could hope.
Monster GT
(http://www.monster.ducati.com/images/moto.png)
I was able to find the source photo for the site.
I did some photoshop overlays of the bike with other models. the evo and the current 696/796
I think this is an updated smaller model
IMO the shape of the fabric indicates the high exhausts are kept.
not a touring model. but there may be a larger screen in there
the mirrors may be changed and the seat is the low style of the new evo
but every other shape lines up perfectly with a non 1100 evo model..
edit: it's wierd but that is the stock height of our tails.
I'm beside myself with anticipation :-\.
The sketch looks like 4v heads and a radiator........
---edit---
My bad....sketch was for older model. Thought it was the updated bike.
Off road Diavel [laugh]
The other possibility... a trellis subframe ???
or maybe a smaller 400 again?
ooo ooo a new motor? 350 single?
Maybe it's a scooter? It is being targeted at the Asian market after all.
actually that is a good point.
i think we are indeed looking at a new Monster 400
It's being released at Sepang, Malaysian GP which doesn't mean it's for the Asian market [laugh]

I'd bite on this concept if it weren't for the fact that I've heard of no one buying the half tard plus the price might be too close to the standard multi IMO. For that I'll get a Yami or KTM
You guys have it all wrong. It's the Puerto Rican version of the Monster with the Jlo sized ass.
Just read on another forum that Ducati have said it's another version of the 696 and will only be for the Asian market. Something to do with the new factory in Thailand so expect a few more for that market

that would be pretty amazing considering they haven't built that factory yet.
Quote"Ducati and they have confirmed this is an Asian market only Monster which will have a slightly modified 696 engine. It will not be available in the UK or Europe. It’s the first product to come from a new assembly plant built by Ducati in Thailand"
That's what I read
Since we are throwing out ideas out like pitches here's one.
[evil]
A complete frameless bike. The engine has a subsection to hold the head tube, then a seat bolted to the rear cylinder head. This would create the most ultimate naked bike ever made.
[drool]
looks like a pretty standard non-evo monster to me with a windscreen and low seat. without seeing the motor, there's no reasonable way to guess as to what is under there.

The current rumour is that it is a Monster 795 - basically a 696 with a larger bore:
http://worlds-news-zak999.blogspot.com/2011/07/ducati-gives-discount-monster-795.html (http://worlds-news-zak999.blogspot.com/2011/07/ducati-gives-discount-monster-795.html)
seems like it would be pretty difficult to successfully market it and a 796 Monster, might be better of with a 400 for the Asian markets. seems more likely to be a 696 or 796 City or Touring model.
Actually makes sense
a796 motor in the shorter 696 chassis for the asian market
But i doubt a new motor
just the 796 with the 66mm stroke
i highly doubt the "795" will be present in a market with a "796"

I agree, maybe they will just offer the 696, 795 and 1100 in the asian market
just like the 695 is only offered in teh Australian market
Asian market always has a 400cc due to tax/output licensing laws there (Japan).
Probably will not see a mid range below 800 cc
You saying there is already an M396?!? :P

no, they haven't made a 400cc class bike for a while -- 2004? maybe they won't be doing that at all given they don't want to have "entry level" bikes anymore.
Yeah the monster 400 was made until 06.
People don't really miss them in Japan, because many riders realized that if you want a Ducati, a 400cc won't satisfy you.
Yes, I'm one of them riders ;D

that's very interesting, but not surprising. i assume it has to do with the pricing too, they probably can't make them cheaply enough to warrant it and since the later models were just sleeved-down 6xx cc models with a smaller crank, they actually were a tad heavy.
the old engine (right side clutch slave) was lighter and the 350/400 models were around 172kg, which was lighter across the board than the larger models. the '96 600ss nuda was the lightest production bike Ducati made, at least according to Mr Falloon

We had 695's here in the UK
We "had" them here in the US too. Until it was only 696/1100 and later 796

Not sure if that was a typo or not ... but it seems to be causing some confusion.
The Australian Monster line-up is currently:
659
696
796
1100
Yes, we also had the 695 in Australia too prior to the 'new-gen' release.
By way of explanation ... we have graduated licencing down here so while you have a learners permit or provisional licence you couldn't ride a Ducati - so they introduced the less powerful/restricted 659 (similarly a restricted 620 was previously available).
The main restrictions are power and capacity (until not that long ago you could only ride up to 250cc on your L's & P's) ... but it can be complicated and technical.
Oh ... and it usually takes about four years before you graduate to a full 'unrestricted' licence.
I'm still surprised they persist with the 696 down here though.

And it is............A 795 [laugh]

In addition to existing model updates, a brand new 2012 Ducati Monster 795 model, developed exclusively
for Asia, will be unveiled during the upcoming Sepang MotoGP event in Malaysia. The specially developed
model represents an important introduction for the iconic Monster model into the Asia Pacific.

well, there it be on an official webpage, just no pitcher jus yet
that picture of the Multi in grey doesn't look half bad....but, back to Monsters....so they'll have a 696 and then the 99 more CC's for who kows how much more, they'll have a 795...I guess instead of the 1100Evo?!?!?!

I seriously see the lineup in Asia as
696, 795, 1100 as I doubt they'll drop the 696 or keep the 796. since it seems the whole idea is lower ride height in their lineup.
It's an Asian 795 [roll]

the new Multi with bags really feels like they merged the ST and Multi
kind of a letdown, but i guess it's good if you live in asia.
i guess i'll be seeing a lot more monsters when i stop by bkk next time.

still the Multi is so much taller, more open, more utilitarian and much less sport styling than the ST.
NOW, if Ducati really wanted to add the option of a hard bagged Diavel to the lineup then we'd be talking about a cool tourer with a touch of sportiness

Ok ,so they pulled the cover off and it looks like a Monster... not sure what the big top-case like hump in the back is..

Are you watching the live broadcast?
Looks like the current model.......... :P
Did I miss something? ???
Yeah it was the live broadcast.
Doesn't look like anything different... not sure what the deal is. I guess we'll see once some tech details come out
Tech is out
http://www.monster.ducati.com/M795.html (http://www.monster.ducati.com/M795.html)
Looks to be a 696 with a bigger engine. DSS, 3 Spoke wheels, similar or same suspension (didn't side-by-side the tech tables)
Yeah... nothing really new here. Just a model targeted at the asian market - so the site says. But I don't understand it... why not just a 696.
maybe due to tiered liscencing?
796 has a higher seat height iirc, perhaps that's the reason?
A "Monster designed for the Asian market"? 795??? uuuuuuuuuhh WTF?!?!? ???
They might as well have released one of these:

Ok so how does a 796 motor in a 696 chasis make the bike "tailor-made for Asia"???
http://www.monster.ducati.com/M795_tech-spec.html (http://www.monster.ducati.com/M795_tech-spec.html)
AFAIK, the 796 was launched in Japan in September 2010, and the 696 back in 2008, and I know for a fact that both bikes have also been launched in other Asian countries...
Tailor made probably means that a lot of people there want an 800cc small bike.
I mean, it's no stereotype that asians tend to be shorter folks. So they took their shortest bike and uprated the engine.
They could have spent the marketing dollars into non expanded tanks. Nothing exciting IMO.

yeah, nothing exciting, but think of this way...
if they capture even a small percentage of the asian market share, thats what will wind up funding the R&D on non expanding tanks.
